La Viña de San Francisco taberna jatetxea — Restaurant in Bilbao

You can only get lunch after 1pm and they will make you sit down and wait until 1 to order the food. There are 3 menus on the wall with no translation or explanation of the dishes. There is no drinks menu. When we asked for information on the dishes, the waitress explained them condescendingly, telling u that we're very confused, that they don't cater to tourists and that she has no time for us because she has other customers (ironically wasting other customers time by yelling at us and not answering our simple questions about the dishes). In the beginning they refused to set the table for us, then the food took a lot of time to arrive. The food was very good as were the prices but we were left confused by the waitress' treatment of us as we were a simple family looking for somewhere to eat who asked for everything politely and calmly, and we've never been treated like this before at another...

By far the best lunch I have ever had in my life with the price (13.9€). We were 2 and ordered one Wine and one Water, as you can see they brought huge bottle of wine when we expected one glass. It was shocking for us. The food we ordered were super delicious and the service was very fast. The environment was good, quiet and temperature was also good on the inside room, there was another room near the entrance and there was a little hotter. All the food the served was high quality and very delicious. They were friendly. There was just one moment where they rushed us even though there was an empty tables and almost took our main dishes, maybe they misunderatood something and thought that we finished because we were taking our time with wine and good main dish. At the end everything was perfect. I recommend this place. Best Daily...

Interior: nothing special. The restaurant in the back is small, but nothing out of the ordinary. Would get 3 stars for that.

Service: that saves the 5 stars. The woman behind the bar was just everywhere, making sure every client was served friendly. It was loads of work and as it turned out, the other waiter (for the restaurant) was 45 minutes late. I was impressed how she managed her bar, kept the order, made sure every guest was taken care of...well done

Food: it was good. Solid 4 stars. Some nice choices...my secreto iberico wasn’t the best quality, the cod was very good. I enjoyed the quinoa/mango starter as it was something new, very fresh and tasty.
