Unfortunately, my recent experience at this restaurant left much to be desired. Upon arrival, I wasn't greeted by the restaurant manager, setting a disappointing tone for my visit. I ordered one of my go-to dishes, even showing a picture of it to the waiter for clarity. To my dismay, when the order arrived, the dish presented was entirely different. I politely brought this to the waiter's attention, but he insisted it was the usual offering, though I was certain it wasn't. Oddly, he claimed it wasn't even on their menu, which left me puzzled. To add to my frustration, half an hour later, I noticed the adjacent table receiving the exact dish I had been ordering consistently! This inconsistency in service and menu availability was baffling. Furthermore, I decided to try their noodles, only to be met with an overwhelming amount of salt. It was so excessive that I couldn't even finish the meal. Read moreMe and my girlfriend had booked Nikko with high expectations due to the good reviews.
The atmosphere was delightful and the service was nothing to complain about. However, the food is Nikko's glaring issue. The miso soup was enjoyable, with perhaps too many sour notes. The chicken Gyozas were delightful, and very tasty. Additionally, the spicy edamame was good, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't. This is where the compliments on the food end. The chicken kaarage was overcoocked, burnt and had a strong taste of flour. The duck spring rolls were honestly the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth, they were simply inedible. We decided to stop after starters and not risk further disappointment by ordering mains. The prices are astronomical for some dishes (14 euro for 4 spring rolls!), and overall definitely not worth it.

Read moreThis restaurant is located in the center of Bilbao. The interior is very spacious, with lots of comfortable seating and very Japanese style decor. All the waiters were very friendly and helpful. Even on a weekday lunch time, the restaurant was almost full after we were seated at 13:00.
We ordered two menú del día and a Japanese style fried chicken. All of the dishes were very fresh and tasty, and the portions were very reasonable; the price of the menú del día is €15.95 per person. In the end we paid around €44 in total.
This is a Japanese style Asian restaurant and all the dishes are above standard, I would highly recommend trying their set menu for a weekday lunch. Be sure to make a reservation in advance so that there aren't any tables available, as the restaurant is...
