We had dinner with a larger, vegan-vegetarian group at "Restaurante Amaltea". For a larger group, it is definitely advisable to make a reservation in advance. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and the interior design is particularly tasteful. The service was okay, but at times we had to make an effort to be able to reach the waitress and we would have liked a bit more attention. Apart from that, the restaurant scores with a separate and extensive vegan menu, which is available in Spanish and English. Unfortunately, some of the listed dishes were not available or vegan only in modified form. For example, the mango soup dessert is actually served with vanilla ice cream. The vegan version comes without ice cream, but costs just as much. The prices are not exactly cheap in some cases and in my opinion not appropriate considering the small portions (see picture of the lasagna). It must be said that the dishes were really tasty, but also not so extraordinary that that would justify the price for the small portions, in our opinion. We came hungry and some of us left hungry. So even though we had a nice evening overall, we probably won't...
Read moreThe restaurant offers a few vegan and many vegetarian dishes along with fish and others non-plant based items.
We started with a glass of local red wine and also a bottle of very good simply tap water. On a side note, Cordoba has WONDERFUL tasting tap water which is a first for any Spain city we have travelled to in the past 7 months!
Starter was an arugula salad with gorgonzola and pine nuts. The cheese was served warm and was very good.
My husband chose the salmon served wrapped in banana leaves with vegetables all in a bamboo steam pot. The salmon was a very generous portion and he said it was very moist and delicious.
I enjoyed my pasta with artichokes, truffle oil, arugula and pine nuts.
The setting was very nice and so colorful. The tableware was beautiful.
Our server was friendly and greeted us promptly and with a smile.
For a quiet escape from the more touristy walled city and for great fresh ORGANIC food, I...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place. We went for lunch and ordered variety of food (some of us main course, some went for desserts and soups) by the end when we paid, the waitress made a comment that it’s a restaurant and not a coffee shop to just sit and not order anything. We didn’t get that to be frank. Also we were charged for bread but it was never brought to us. So I advise to check the bill there. Regarding food, I went for octopus which was alright and I quite enjoyed my meal. My friend thought (had an octopus too) didn’t like it because she had it overcooked. Desserts were not tasty. Udon was so salty it was impossible to eat, we asked the waitress if it’s alright she said it’s normal because of the soy sauce 🤷🏼♀️ So, to conclude, I expected more from a quite expensive restaurant. As I understood it’s a popular place and I recommend booking in advance. (Or maybe find something...
