The main intention to visit El Fogon7 was to be able to get a paella serving for one, as no one else in my family was craving paella during our trip.
When we got to the restaurant at 6:30ish pm midweek no table was occupied whereas this is obviously not the usual time to dine yet in Spain.
We were kindly asked whether we wanted any starters/tapas as the prep of the paella would take 30min, but as denying wasn't taken any negatively by the waiter.
Over the course of us waiting to be served the whole terrace filled up quickly leaving no unoccupied outdoor seating.
My other family members went for either the recommendation being the baby lamb shoulder or a rumpsteak. Everyone really liked their dishes and the dinner was satisfying. The lamb shoulder came smothered in a sauce, whereas I would have preferred if that was emphasized previously. Also, the sauce that was ordered with the rumpsteak (chimichurri) didn't come. But as the meat itself was specifically good, it didn't need any.
I opted for the rabbit & chicken paella and it was very yummy. There were some vegetable ingredients in there which I wouldn't necessarily expect in a paella but the taste was harmonious. Overall it might have been a bit oily/greasy which could easily come from the type of meat though. In the end it wasn't too bad, but worth a...

We began our meal with the appetizers, and they did not disappoint. The flavours were well-balanced, and the portion sizes were generous. The starters set a positive tone for the rest of the evening, promising a delectable dining experience.
While the starters and my partners pasta dish were enjoyable, the disappointment came with my main course - the steak. Regrettably, my anticipation turned into dismay as I discovered that the steak was primarily composed of fat. Also it was slightly overdone for what I asked for, however this wasn’t the problem. The excessive fat content made it nearly impossible to savour the meat itself. I could only manage to consume a fraction of the steak before deciding it was not worth the effort, around 1/4 of it. This flaw in the main course was a significant drawback that detracted from an otherwise promising meal, it was anti-climactic to say the least.
Regrettably this has made me choose this star rating. Being a steak house, they didn’t even have my first choice of steak, and then really disappointed with the second option. It was quite baffling to experience the irony of a steakhouse, where the non-steak dishes exceeded expectations, while the star of the show—the steak—turned out to be a...
Read moreWe had grilled fish and entrecôte. Unfortunately, the fish was overcooked and no longer moist - tastily good, but unfortunately was not fun to eat. I also expect in a restaurant with certain claim, that the fish is filleted for the guest. Since my wife could not do it, I had to take care of it. The result was that my meat, which I had ordered rare was now cold. If the plate had been preheated, this would not have happened. The fact that my entrecôte was a rump steak and not as ordered an entrecote, put the crown on everything. Interestingly, the owner apparently did not know the difference between a rump steak and a rib eye. When I explained to him that the entrecôte is the piece of meat from the back of the beef with the famous fat eye, he just said that whether the fat is on the inside or outside of the meat does not matter - fat is fat. It is obviously sold here the cheaper rump steak for an expensive ribeye. This is fraud on the customer. And when you notice it, they cover it up with a strange sense of humor. It's a shame, really, because the positive reviews led us to believe that we would be spoiled here in...
