Tayoki Sushi — Restaurant in Calvià

Wonderful discovery. This is a great and relaxed place to dine with friendly staff and good food. It is mainly sushi but with a few tempura dishes, some wok-style dishes (meat, rice and veggies cooked in a wok) and some non-sushi appetizers like wakame, miso soup, etc. There is also a chicken katsu dish (like a chicken schnitzel) that is oddly called a chicken tempura (perhaps because the term tempura is better known than katsu?). One of the most amazing things though is that for 15.95 euros per person you can order an all-you-can-eat option that includes everything on the menu (except drinks of course!). And there is no rush: in fact the owner asked us to take our time and order as much as we wanted (he only requested we not order more than we could eat). So we sampled all that we could from the menu and everything was quite good. It is not going to be the best sushi or Japanese food you’re ever going to have, but it is quite good and for the price I don’t think it can be beat. In the end I calculated we had ordered 57 euros worth of dishes but only for 32 because of the deal. Tap beer is also only 1,90 euro which is reasonable. We will definitely go back. Also the owner and waitstaff are very friendly and it was a real pleasure to be there. Great value for money all you can eat offer, but mixed quality in food. Some great starters and certainly good variety in the menu, but you will find that any dishes with rice (e.g. nigiri) are overly filled with rice and not enough fish. The staff insists you finish the rice even if you take out the rice to improve this ratio. Overall we were a little bit disappointed with the service - the owner can be very attentive and friendly, but makes uncomfortable remarks when you seem to order a lot of food. Fair enough if you think about it from a cost perspective, but creates an all around uncomfortable experience for the customer. Our experienced was bad. Ok my son said the food is ok, but when we order our next order it didn't came and we have to wait an hr. My kids just looking at their phones and drinking, until I complained why they just passed us and not serving our food. They said sorry it's busy, but there are orders in serving customers. First come first serve, others got their third serving and we haven't got our second. I literally ate just 2 salmon and 2 tuna, my kids ordered miso soup and ate 4 pieces of sushi each and my husband ate 4 sushi. My kids likes Japanese food so we look everywhere.
