Med Bar, Cocktails & Snacks — Restaurant in Ciutadella

My family and I just experienced the rudest, most unprofessional and childish behaviour from a man named 'CHRISTIAN'. He apparently is in some position of authority at the MEDBAR. Prior to meeting CHRISTIAN I first approached a female member of staff stood behind the ice cream stand, asking her where we can order burgers and kebabs. She has no customer service skills, sour faced and unwelcoming, to say the least. We wanted to order food in the shade as it was a very hot sunny afternoon, I was pushing my partners mother in a wheel chair and we had our 11 year old son with us. The female staff member looked at us as if we were really inconveniencing her, as if in disgust for us even daring to ask for her assistance and pointed in the direction of the entrance to the bar. It was not a busy time of day, I only saw one gentleman sat at a table near the front of the establishment. As I entered with my family pushing the wheelchair, I was approached a Male staff member. I again was not given a warm greeting by this second staff member, he was very cold and said something to the effect of, 'WHAT DO YOU WANT...Eat in or take away..eat in ir takeaway?' At this stage I was beginning to get annoyed, but my partners mum needed to eat food with her medication and my partner wanted a kebab, so I decided to tolerate this guys lack of people skills for the time being whilst I got my takeaway order done, then I would never have to see their miserable faces again. It gets better, HA HA! The male I now know to be CHRISTIAN gets involved. These two previous staff members must have learned from CHRISTIAN, who puts the other two to shame with his lack of customer service skills. At one point he even has the cheek to gesture us to move the wheelchair to the side, as if we were going to block access for a sudden, unexpected rush of customers! I even had a menu shoved at me to select my order. At one point CHRISTIAN looked at me from the bar asking me if I was ready to order. I felt rushed so I mumbled in Spanish, 'UN MOMENTITO,. At about this point, my partner had clearly had enough and quietly let me know she didn't like the rudeness, she was clearly uncomfortable and wanted to leave. She then put the menu down and the four of us quietly turned to the exit and walked away from the premises. At now point did we cause a scene, there was no heated exchange of words from our end and I was quite happy to leave it at that, lesson learned. Now this is when it gets INTERESTING! As we are walking away CHRISTIAN starts yelling, runs from behind the bar and closely is following us as we were already walking away. I know Spanish and I heard CHRISTIAN badmouthing us when our backs were turned, pushing a wheelchair with my partners mum, my partner and a child in close proximity. 'WOW' what a man! Has he no shame. It doesn't end THERE! CHRISTIAN then loudly tells me to go away. Very funny, as we had already left, but he seemed to want to play the facade of thinking he had kicked us out. I did reply at one point, 'YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL ME TO GO AWAY WHEN I ALREADY LEFT', as I was already well out if the premises and on the pavement some distance away. CHRISTIAN also then has the audacity to yell out several times, SHE'S CRAZY! whilst at the same time pointing in the direction of the back of my partner and walking briskly behind us. I really cannot comprehend how a grown man can behave so undignified in public. We kept our dignity, with my partner only replying, 'YOURE RUDE' as we walked away. I have experience in the industry over several years as a waiter and bartender both abroad and the UK and this guy is shocking. I spent lots of hard earned money in MENORCA during my visit and apart from MEDBAR the locals have been welcoming, friendly and lovely. You intimidated a child, a wheelchair bound woman and her daughter, who only wanted to be treated like a paying customer should. We just went and had a terrible upsetting experience.We walked in and was confronted with 3 very sour faced staff.one woman on the ice cream bar who scowled at us,didn't smile and directed us inside to order our food.we were about to ask for 3 cheeseburgers and a kebab and the man walked away as we were speaking."hello,could we please have 3 cheese........" He walked off.....and came back with a menu and pushed it into my partners hand...while loudly saying,"eat in or take away?...eat in or take away?" "Take away please" and he again walked away and stood outside,not taking our order or anything...another man behind the bar huffed and said,"ok,what do you want?..."His name was Christain.He was very abrupt,probably because we wasnt sitting inside drinking.

My partner and I was having a quick look and he again said"what do you want??c'mon" No smile,nasty tone and I felt very uncomfortable.my partner was again going to try order"can I have....." but he interrupted him again mid sentence to hold out his arm in front of my partner and motion for us to stand further away from the bar"move back..move",we weren't sitting in so he wanted us to stand aside in the doorway.The place was totally empty except for one man sat at the other end of the bar.My mum was in a wheelchair and needed to have food with her medication and we had an 11 year old also.he gave us all more attitude and eye rolls and I said,"okay,that's it." I took the menu out of my hand and put it on the bar .I said quietly to my partner.."I'm sorry, but im not ordering from here,they are being really rude" and we walked towards the door...the man (christian) from behind the bar flew out and was shouting "no no no go! You go....go!...YOU GO AWAY..GO AWAY" (I had already walked out through the door)To me,shouting at me,following me waving his arms around "shes crazy,shes crazy SHES CRAZY!!" Shouting at me and motioning to everyone on the street could hear and look at me as I'm leaving,hes shouting very loudly following us up the street!!!!..walking very close behind us...then he turned to his staff to bad mouth me and my family in Spanish,Because he saw I didn't want to give them my money after the disgusting treatment, we were already leaving and he flew to chase us from the other side of the bar..he wanted it to look like it was his decision.he starred shouting as soon as I said I didnt want to eat there.we didnt even order,no food was being cooked...he was furious I didnt order while he snarled at me and rolled his eyes..who would want to after that?? DONT GO.PLEASE.we had a small scared boy and an older lady in a wheelchair.i am still shaking.it was frightening.i have put in an official complaint.Nobody should be screamed at and followed by someone being intimidating when I have the right to choose to spend my money somewhere that...

absolutely outraged with this place, my friend and I wandered down at 11am to ask what time they open. was greeted by a man behind the counter who I assume works there, we were greeted with a very unpleasant unfriendly look. my friend asked what time do you open, to which he responded by holding up a large knife! she stood in shock looking at him, I said why is he holding a knife at you?! I loudly said that's not funny?! instead of putting the huge knife down he just said it's a joke it's a joke. again NOT FUNNY . We live in a time where terrorism threatens our everyday life, and how could any sane person be expected to laugh when a stranger in a foreign country brandishes a knife at them. if he is willing to do this then who knows what else he thinks is acceptable. if you too think knives are funny then please go and enjoy. if you value your safety I suggest...
