Rather elevated food at this beautiful restaurant in Portocolum! Apparently it's been here for 26 years, and if I look back at some older photos from reviews, it seems like they have changed their look and focus to a more elegant style perhaps. We sat outside with a view of the harbour (and our boat) but the interior is very nice and large, perfect for colder weather for sure. For starters we had grilled watermelon with fresh goat cheese as well as a scallop dish with very thinly slices turnips (I think it was) and a "foam". Main dishes were excellent, cod with pureed potatoes and maybe the same foam as on the starter? Not sure but it doesn't matter, it looked nice. The whole Dorado was amazing, cooked very well and the lemon and herbs seasoning was perfection. That fish came with a nice "on the tooth" lemon risotto. Very very yum. The kitchen served, free of charge, a nice little glass of Gazpacho with nut pieces which was refreshing and a very good way to start the meal, and a couple if small pieces of two different cakes as a dessert. They also offered a glas of Schnapps, which we declined, but it was a very nice touch. Even if we are only here for a few days, we...
Read moreWe had a disappointing experience when we visited for lunch while in Porto Colom.
I don't know what the restaurant thinks it is... The menu was small - no problem with that it usually means more focus and fresher ingredients - and the prices were quite high.
As a group we ordered tapas, club sandwich and a pulled pork burger.
The bread was baked in house and was excellent... Although as with most restaurants it is charged for.
Tapas - this was like a five course taster menu. It really was nice and I've have eaten more of it!
Club sandwich - chicken breast, bacon and salad over three tiers of English style toasted bread along with a handful of crisps and a pot of thousand island dressing. That was a whopping €16...
Pulled pork burger - A black bun filled with a pork and coleslaw "slop" that was looked awful, was difficult to eat but tasted okay.
Service problems... Ordered two bottles of water but got one - bill had two on it. Asked for two glasses of white wine and they never arrived.
So hence the two stars... Some of the food is great, some over priced, but service is not acceptable given the high...
Read moreDisappointing food given the reputation of the restaurant. The service was very good, polite and attentive, however nobody could answer any questions about the wine, unlike many restaurants on Mallorca they wouldn’t offer a taste of the wine (except the house wine), but the waiter did go so far as to borrow a taste from a nearby table who kindly offered this after going to them to ask if they where enjoying a particular bottle we had selected. A wine lottery if you don’t know the list. We watched walk in after walk in get told they were fully booked and turned away, when there were many free tables. Shortly after, lots of walk ins were accepted… which was strange. So if you definitely want to go then you should book. Overall very disappointed in the food, we mentioned this to the waitress when paying and she bought a complimentary drink as we where leaving, which...
