Granada has excellent restaurants that featuring traditional high-quality creative Spanish cooking. However, innovative cuisine has been largely absent until now.

Andalucia is one of the more traditional and conservative regions of Spain, which is part of the charm of the region. The “Granainos” are not as adventurous as those from other regions when it comes to food.

Fortunately this is an outstanding restaurant which uses Spanish cooking techniques and elevates the creativity to a level that you would expect if you’re in Madrid, Pais Vasco, or Cataluña.

Several reviewers have complained about one of the lovely appetizer dishes: the artichoke. The reason you have it at the beginning of your meal is because It is a very subtly flavored item. The courses of the meal are not simply a hodgepodge of things you want to eat, but are designed to be eaten in a specific order. This artichoke is particularly good, since it is available out of season and it is preserved, and I believe also poached, in high-quality olive oil. The yolk is perfectly cooked up the and this is a lovely way to start.

I do agree with others that some of the food is saltier than I would like. But then again, people in Spain are used to putting much more salt in the food than some of us from other parts of the world would like. One example of this is the otherwise excellent sepia rice dish

Nobody does seafood as well as the Spanish. Everything is at this restaurant is astonishingly fresh. In fact, some locally available srimp are actually driven from the coast to arrive about one hour before the restaurant opens. It doesn’t get any fresher than that unless you’re sitting with the toes in the sand…

The waitstaff is incredibly knowledgeable about wine. I strongly recommend you tell them what you normally would like and let them make suggestions. Or even better let them pair the ones with your meals. I had one of the best Spanish wines I’ve had in many years, which was a lovely elegant Bierzo

You must have the cheesecake for dessert. It is the best I have ever had. It is Spanish style, not New York. It is rich but light at the same time and has a lovely...

Shockingly disappointing and bad for a Michelin listed restaurant.

Started with the artichoke and cured egg dish as well as the sardines and brioche. While both showed potential and the cooks were solid, there was zero seasoning and the artichoke lacked a final element (like a seasoning or additional sauce) that made the dish feel incomplete.

For our second course we had the scallops and pork jowls. The pork jowls were actually quite good, properly seasoned with a buttery consistency. The contributing truffle also was a savior, appropriately light notes of truffle in a creamy sauce that complimented the cook of the pork. The scallops however were grainy, overcooked, and over salted.

The final dish of the evening and nail to coffin of our experience was beef cheek with orange and polenta. While the beef was cooked correctly, but it had absolutely zero notes of the orange flavoring and no other seasoning. The polenta was fried, and the best way I can describe it is “burnt tater tots.”

We did not stay for dessert, but we did hang out for over 30 minutes waiting for our check.

There’s a Burger King across the street, save yourself some time and disappointment and go...

Revised after dialogue with the restaurant. I recently hosted a business lunch for two at Le Bistro with high expectations. Finding a quality lunch spot on a Monday can be challenging, but fortunately, Le Bistro is open and welcoming. We were easily seated at 13:30 and greeted with politeness and care.

The dishes were beautifully presented and genuinely delicious, showcasing attention to detail and culinary skill. Overall, the experience was very good. Our total came to around €100 for two, which makes it a relatively high-end lunch option.

There was a minor issue that required follow-up with the restaurant after our visit. However, the matter was handled with professionalism and genuine customer care, which I greatly appreciate. While this experience prevents me from giving a perfect score this time, I look forward to returning — and I’m confident that a future visit could well earn Le Bistro a full five-star...
