(Oct '24) We found this lil spanish treat by accident, and are so glad we did. Sunday lunch time in Abrigos doesn't leave many options, but one of them is a small gem hidden in plain sight that we have passed many times on our way elsewhere. English isn't a well known language but you can communicate and the inside menu board has both spanish and english.. so comments about paying for menus don't make any sense, other than petty spite. I had the pork chop with potato salad and chips, my wife had meatballs with chips. Where do I start? The chef is a genius. Cooked to perfection, both dishes gave pleasure beyond expectation. I cannot describe the individual potions of home made potato salad and do it justice. Comments about pour food quality are without doubt lies. Language difficulties (being a brit I have failed myself miserably n never learnt another language) can be overcome with ease and both the waitress and the chef were eager to please .. another group of comments dispelled! - dogs and bistros/cafes/tavernas. I love dogs, do i want one begging at my table as I eat, no! another set of comments quickly dealt with. there is a lot of hatred in the feedback for this place and in our experience its complete b0!!ox. so much so we are going back again tomorrow. Everyone has different standards and expectations, but the negativity of reviews makes no sense. If you're passing through Abrigos and are hungry, prove me wrong, if you can. our expectations were easily surpassed and our bellies pleasantly filled by...
Read moreWe are normally ok with paying more for meals when the food is adequate but this felt like highway robbery. I read some reviews here AFTER ordering and hoped they were exaggerating or it was random events. Nope! Two of us stopped here after the beach for a late lunch. The wine and water were fairly priced. The order of meatballs and beef in a sauce with fries thrown on top was unexpectedly expensive. We had to walk inside to see the menu on the wall so wasn’t expecting high prices. According to the receipt, fries were extra. They never asked. Also, the server asked if we wanted bread and we said no thank you. They brought us some bread anyway and then charged us for it. We’re not argumentative people, we don’t speak much Spanish, and they barely spoke English so we just paid and left. Leaving this tale of caution to help others not feel taken...
Read moreI am a solo English tourist & this is my first time in Tenerife. My Airbnb host recommended me this place. I almost didn't go because of the bad reviews but I'm really glad I decided to go! Get the goat stew - it was slightly greasy but so delicious! The waiters were really friendly. I'm so happy I got to eat something a bit different and a bit more authentic Tenerife food! Homemade chips were also yummy and could have done with a few more. Go with reasonable expectations, it's a local place not aimed at tourists but I think it has a...
