A nice little local spot with some ambience but away from the madding crowds of the old town. We didn’t have a reservation but arrived around 8.45pm on a weeknight and were seated immediately by the friendly host. He spoke English, Italian and Spanish all fluently and was really delightful. The menu is limited but all the dishes we had were really nice. The ‘pizza not pizza’ with caprese topping was a nice starter to share between two. Very flavourful with fresh ingredients. We then had the salmon and mango tartare and the pistachio crusted tuna for mains. Though the tartare was large I would say it was more of a starter style dish and could’ve done with an accompanying salad or some vegetables to make it a main. The tuna was delicious. I enjoyed the seaweed salad that it came with, though my partner did not (seaweed can be an acquired taste.) We accompanied this with a beer and a red wine. By the glass it appeared there was no choice in wine- but an extensive selection by the bottle. I then had the pana cotta with strawberry for dessert. Pana cotta is always my favourite choice. This was very tasty, though if I’m being very particular- a little too gelatinous and not creamy enough (like I said, very particular) After our meal the host offered us a free shot and we had some local hierbas (herby aniseed liqueur), a lovely touch. We would recommend this venue For somewhere calmer in Ibiza centre.

We found El Local as we were walking through Ibiza town and it looked quaint. As a family of 5 we did not have a reservation however the host sat us outside with no problems. Now, this is a very traditional Italian trattoria so there is no Western-style Italian food, no pizza or tomato-based heavy pasta or spaghetti. Our host kindly explained the dishes and our kids finally settled on their meal of choice. We had some lovely olives, bread and a house special aioli which went down a treat with the children while we waited for our mains. Our mains arrived after 15min as advised and we tucked in. My eldest declared the pulled port the best he has ever had, the penne got the seal of approval from another and our youngest found the tagliatelle portion just to much for her wee tummy. Both parents enjoyed their mains and the good lady indulged with a gorgeous tiramisu for dessert. I enjoyed the food as I sampled everyone's choice but I think this is more for adults as sometimes kids just want a lovely thin pizza not an artisan meal. So if your looking for delicious traditional Italian cooking then this is certainly the place, if you want a cheeky pizza or penne arrabbiata then there are plenty other places.

Very good Italian food, especially the pasta. The owner is from the Veneto region, which is reflected in some of the dishes, such as the delicious "baccalà mantecato" (mashed cod with garlic, parsley and olive oil). Although the pasta is not freshly made, it's of very high quality. We really enjoyed the "paccheri alla carbonara", one of their most popular dishes. Better yet was the daily special: spaghetti with octopus and cherry tomatoes in a potato-pecorino sauce. While the menu is mostly traditional, it has some creative elements. For example, the "tenerina" (a traditional flour-less chocolate cake) was covered with "dulce de leche" and white chocolate. Overall, we had a fantastic dinner at el Local.
