Detailed review. First time in Fuerteventura. Fairly seasoned traveler. Not a foodie but like good, more local than not eater. Went around 6:15 and without reservations, my partner and I were able to be seated. This seemed lucky, though, as people were making reservations for the following day; solo diners were seated quickly as soon as a table left, as they obviously had reservations. The place was full, but everything appeared to be running smoothly and efficiently. Our table was a two-top in the middle of their quaint, cozy, and home-like dining area. My partner still had a nice view of the water pass the outside seating area. To order wine, I was able to use a tablet to work around my poor Spanish. Got the house Rose, and it was good, and surprisingly good with our fish. I’m a red drinker most occasions. We first got the zucchini with goat cheese. The cheese was smooth and creamy and unique to the island’s goat cheese reputation. I’ve never had cheese so creamy. The zucchini was great too, as well as the small mixed lettuce salad with balsamic that accompanied the zucchini wraps. We ordered the fish of the day, Mediterranean style, which meant, presumably, served with roasted vegetables (red onion, carrot, zucchini and may be forgetting something else) and had the same cook as the fish of the day order, poached with oil, salt and pepper, and probably nothing else. Fish was served with a lemon slice, and honestly, that’s all it needed to bring out all the flavor. Waiter offered the fish to us whole and then offered to prepare it for us. My partner chose the latter as I wouldn’t have minded otherwise. Oh, and the vegetables were really well prepared and were fresh. Rarely do desserts, nor care to at restaurants. My partner, however, wanted one, and I’m so glad she did. We got the cheese cake (remember, cheese cake will translate differently), and it was awesome. I‘ve had Brooklyn, NY original, and this was better. (Ok, different texture, different cheese and milk, but that’s what I’m getting at.) It was creamy and buttery and fluffy and just the right ratio of crust and fruit. So all and all, yes, this is a common spot to go if you’re going to be in El Cotillo, but the place isn’t that big, and this place is solid.

A really good seafood restaurant in the town of El Cotillo, and perhaps one of the most popular food places there. Make reservations ahead of time otherwise you might not be able to sit, as there are many tourists who are drawn in by its great reputation, location, and food. Really good service available in English, Spanish, and some German. A great variety of dishes composed of mostly seafood, but also some non marine options for those with certain allergies. Many local flavors and ingredients go into the dishes, including the freshly cut fish which is often prepared by the ocean and deboned table side (optional). The portions were big and the prices were fair for what was offered. This applies for food and drinks. The Vieja grilled fish was just OK though, which is why I don’t give the full 5 stars. Not very flavorful at all, especially for a grilled fish. AMAZING view from your table. The owner is very friendly and works closely with the staff. Excellent customer service, truly. The bathrooms are a bit small, but decent. Highly recommend this place for anyone going to El Cotillo!

We loved La Vaca Azul so much we ended up going twice during our stay in El Cotillo! On our first visit, my partner spoke in Spanish to one of the lovely staff members (I don’t speak Spanish) and mentioned that he was planning to propose to me that evening. He asked if we could have a table for dinner after the proposal, but unfortunately they were fully booked. Instead, the kind woman suggested we come the following evening – and when we did, they had set up a beautiful table for us, making the night truly memorable. We shared a paella for two (highly recommend – perfectly cooked and full of flavour), and we loved it so much that two days later we returned for the fish of the day, which was equally delicious. Fantastic food, a gorgeous setting and staff who go above and beyond – a place we’ll never forget. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ordered fresh grilled fish for two. It was inedible, tasteless and served cold. By cold I mean out of a fridge not just luke warm. The garnish was dried out and not freshly prepared either. Location and view are excellent but food and service are not worth the prices charged. I would seriously question if the fish was fresh or cooked to order. We left hungry and disappointed. There are plenty of other quality restaurants in the area so do not get taken in by the hipped reviews online. El Cotillo has so much to offer and well worth a visit.

In response to the owners reply to my original review : You indicated my review was not constructive. It may well be for visitors looking for a quality fish meal in El Cotillo. If you offer fresh grilled fish at a price per kilo and advertise a sum for two people they should not both leave hungry and disappointed. Serve the food hot, not difficult if freshly prepared to order. How it arrives cold having been on a grill is a misery to me but maybe you can explain. As for telling me not to return, there is no chance when there are so many excellent alternatives in the area. Live up to your reputation and accept criticism to improve your service. There are many review expressing the same disappointment as I did with regards to the fresh grilled fish. I like all customers can only base our reviews on our own personal experience. Mine was not good and did not live up to...
