El Goloso de Cotillo — Restaurant in La Oliva

As in the economic crisis since 2008 the most bars and restaurants that newly spread out in El Cotillo had to close down, Goloso survived and it was nearly the only place in town where you could have a coffee and something for breakfast at 8 am. So it was busy and is for that reason still busy. But (!) times have changed. There are a lot of better alternatives in walking distance like Menditero or Mil Deseo. Food at Goloso is extrem fat with tons of sugar. If you just want to have a good cafe con leche, you can stop here, if you want more, pass by.

To mention is also, that the inner part of Goloso was rebuild in summer 2016. No bakery anymore inside – all comes from Goloso in Lajares. For that reason more tables could be installed – the noise level inside is now unacceptable when crowed. Guys, we are on the island tranquila not the nosy island!

Recently, my family and I were in El Cotillo looking for a place to buy an ice cream, and after checking Google, we decided to go to El Goloso. The place and products looked nice; totally different was the attitude of the staff. We sat at a table, and three young girls were attending behind the desk. One was busy with customers, while the other two were free, but after about five minutes, none of them came to take our order. We decided to go to the desk and ask for ice cream, but the girls repeatedly moved somewhere else, pretending to be busy, and no reply was given to us. The food was as always very good the coffee was good the problem with this place was a tape line on the floor under a metre from the counter was the only attempt at any distancing, the building has two doors to the street one at each end however only the main door was usable for in and out which involved a very narrow gap between customers with no way of keeping any distance at all. So no compliance in real terms, so we wont be visiting again any time soon. Sorry for this but it made me very uncomfortable just being in there.
