Came to eat dinner & enjoy some wine but was treated horribly. Took the servers 15 minutes to come over even though they had been walking around & saw us multiple times, & the restaurant wasn’t that busy. When a server came, he asked us to move to a table of 2 instead which was fine. We sat down, & ordered two wines & a coca cola to start. The server was rather aggressive when taking our order & looked like he didn’t want to serve us. When our drinks finally came, another server brought them, my boyfriend & I greeted him “hola” & he just ignored us and placed the drinks down. When he was about to walk away, he spilt the red wine & it dropped all over the floor & the glass broke. He didn’t even apologize, he just went straight to cleaning it, & didn’t check in. I saw my shoes were stained, & the server that originally took my order brought me shoe cleaner to clean my shoes which was nice but no one apologized. They brought over a new glass & then continued to ignore us for another 20 minutes. It was absolutely embarrassing considering the whole restaurant had been staring at me at that point as I was cleaning my shoes. No one checked in with us. Then the server came after 20 minutes to take our food order & at that point with the lack of empathy I had received, I just asked for the cheque. They dropped the bill off, & I wasn’t expecting for anything to be taken care of, but an apology would’ve been nice. I proceeded to pay for the whole bill (2 wines & a coca cola) & drank my wine. Again, they ignored me. The bill came to 8,50€ & I gave them 9€. Normally, I tip 10-20%, but I wanted my change considering the service & lack of empathy. I noticed, 3 tables walk out because they were receiving similar treatment. When a server took the bill, I asked for change, & he said ok. Then no one ever came back for another 10 minutes. Instead, no one looked at us, & ignored us again. The server that took our order, gave me the shoe cleaner & took the money, instead went inside, ignored us, & then grabbed his jacket & went for a smoke. My boyfriend looked at him, & that server told the other server that dropped our wine to come over to us. We then asked him for our change again, & he said ok, came back 5 minutes later, dropped it off. Didn’t look at us, apologize or say anything- instead he looked angry that we asked for our change! There were 2 men sitting next to us, & shook their heads at us & left as well because they received no service- they had been there for 20-30 minutes and watched the whole thing! I was appalled. I work in the restaurant myself, & I understand mistakes happen all the time! But to not once apologize, check in with your customers when you made a mistake or be friendly even at first glance is horrible. We get that the server that dropped the wine was probably embarrassed and thats okay. But there was a whole staff at that restaurant that couldve made the experience better. The experience was horrible the minute we got there. We’ve tried many restaurants in Malaga, & all have been given such kind and friendly service even if it wasn’t quick. But I absolutely do not recommend this place & will...

One Star Review for La Casa Lola in Malaga

I had an extremely disappointing experience at La Casa Lola. The service was appalling; the staff seemed completely disinterested in attending to the customers. Every time I tried to get their attention, I was met with indifference, making me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued patron.

The ambiance, which could have been the saving grace, was ruined by the incredibly uncomfortable chairs. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're constantly shifting in your seat trying to find a comfortable position.

But the worst part had to be the servers. Their attitude was outright mean, lacking any semblance of basic courtesy. It felt as if they were doing us a favor by merely taking our orders. Such behavior is unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that's supposed to be hospitable.

Overall, my visit to La Casa Lola was a regrettable experience. I hope the management takes note and makes the necessary improvements. As it stands, I cannot recommend this...

Let me start by saying I have been here many times and always loved the food, atmosphere and service. This time I felt it had all slipped. We ordered the croquetas: choco, rabo de toro and (my favourite) pilpil... to be honest none of them shined. I was suprised as the croquetas here are usually some of the best in Malaga. We ordered two pinchos, only one arrived. We reminded the waiter of the second, and that arrived about 30 minutes later, by then we were done and didn't really need it. Service was good overall but you really had to make your presence known. My friend even told the waiter that the table next to us had been waiting a while - he was very quick to serve them. I really enjoy going to this restaurant and perhaps I have high expectations, but today they were not at their best. Also, menus are old, frayed and dirty - not a good look and a bit lazy on the managerial side, it's an easy fix and really looks awful as your first...

We are really not into tapas so it’s keep that in mind as I do my review I thought it was quite interesting unfortunately, my partner and I do not like the same food so we have to order our own. Maybe part of the fun of tapas is sharing I would not know I had a Goat cheese salad, which was delicious and then I had lox on a little piece of bread and some shrimp on a little piece of bread we also had the meatballs which came with french fries and he had croquettes spinach and ham and cheese glass of wine a glass of there other kind of type of sangria everything was good. I can’t make any complaints about it. This is what it is. I’m sure if I keep trying it as long as I’m in Spain, I will. I’ll get into it but what I like is to sit down for dinner and have a salad and main course and a vegetable so I guess I’m really not a good candidate for tapas The waiters and waitresses were very nice and helpful. They did have an English menu, which was very helpful.

I’ve lost count the number of times I have had breakfast at Casa Lola in plaza uncibay. I am rating it 5 stars because over the years it has remained in my top places to grab breakfast in Malaga centro. The location is great as you’ll get some sun in the morning and there are enough tables you don’t have to wait. The coffee varies in quality sometimes it’s great sometimes overly bitter but you’ll get a decent “mitad” or cafe con leche anytime I usually have a pitufo catalana which is a small sandwich with jamón, olive oil, and ground tomato. I like to add avocado which isn’t authentic but its a nice mix. I can’t speak to the quality of the non Spanish breakfast but the quality of the sandwiches is usually pretty good. The service is generally friendly and quick though you can’t be afraid to wave at the waiters when it’s busy. They’re not rude they just have to cover a lot of tables with just a few waiters.

Casa Lola receives a modest 3/5 rating from us. They offer a variety of traditional Spanish tapas that provide good value for money. Notably, the calamari and patatas bravas stood out as delightful choices. However, the croquettes left something to be desired; they were disappointingly mushy and seemed to lack the quality one would expect, perhaps indicating that they were frozen and cheaply made. The service experience could definitely use some enhancement. There was an instance where a request for a beer was made twice, yet it never reached our table. This hiccup in service diminished our overall satisfaction. While Casa Lola demonstrates potential with its affordable tapas selection and some tasty options, the issues with the croquettes and service prevent us from giving a higher rating.
