Mediterranium Menorca — Restaurant in Maó

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. Although the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is nice (same as for all the restaurants and bars around this lively area) this does not make up for the low quality of the served food. We both ordered Sea Bass/Lubina and were shocked when it arrived with Mayonnaise on top. The vegetables were badly overcooked. The Russian Salad we had as a starter was far from what it should be…please use quality ingredients and not the cheapest available! Did that Chef ever go through a single lesson in Mediterranean cooking? No problem if you want to offer Mayonnaise and cocktail sauce off the shelf, but please ask beforehand if your guests want that! Now, all this wouldn’t be so bad if the prices were adequate. For offering this kind of quality, it is grossly overpriced. Other restaurants in the area charge marginally more and offer top notch food quality. Please either hire a Menorquin/Catalan/Spanish Chef or lower your prices...

This is the first review I’ve ever left as I am really not one to complain. We waited for about 40 minutes to get our drinks, were asked to set the table ourselves, were completely overlooked as it took another hour to even get our food. Once we got our food, we received a raw burger despite telling staff we wanted it well done, soggy and oily chips and undercooked bolognese pasta. We made a comment about the burger and it was clear they grilled the full burger as the bun was rock hard. Eventually we asked for the bill and told the staff our complaints with which they responded “that’s how we do it in Spain”. (As a Spaniard myself, despite living in another country, I know this restaurant was not up to par in any way shape or form nor was it a good representation of Spanish cuisine). La Metropolitana Menorca is a spot on place to have your dinner and watch the beautiful sunset and its stunning colourful reflection in the waters of the harbour. 🏝🏞 The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere. Locals were dining there, and that says a lot. We did not have to book, just walked in on a Tuesday evening. It was a busy service but they could still accommodate us. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the best gazpacho ever! My husband had croquettes and he fairly enjoyed them. Then we had red tuna which was cooked to perfection and was very delicious. It's a shame we could not finish our portions but it is only because they were enormous! 🍛🍛The hostess and the staff were very friendly and helpful. 💛The waiter advised us our mains and the starter. We already recommended La Metropolitana to some expats staying at our hotel and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes their food, especially coming in...
