!!! They CHARGE 3,50 for the SHOTS they ask if you want (in Madrid they're offered on the house). Check if the olives they bring are free or on the house.

The place is a bit small, uncomfortable to sit in some places where the table behind you needs to move, service is ok, difficult during the Sunday rush. Check some of the responses to the bad reviews ("go where you can afford it" "we don't want customers like you"). 🙃

We arrived and were told in an annoyed tome that they need to set our reserved table. We were indeed in the middle. They wipe the table with some wipe that leaves a lot of water on the table so the napking you are supposed to use soaks up all that nice wipe-table water. Not to mention it gets on your hands and arms. They didn't bring the second bottle of water, nor glasses for all.

The paella was good. Excellent the mixed one cooked nicely with soccarat, the plancton one was a very interesting one, green, creamy, al dente. The lemon Venezuelan desert very good, brownie desert very nice too. However, in the Valenciana one, my friend said that the snails were raw.

However, not only are drinks expensive (justifiable in a bar that only exists through drinks selling, or in a place where the food is less expensive), but, what really got me, after a big bill with several paellas, drinks, deserts, coffee, they come and ask if we want some shots. Usually in Madrid some places they offer you shots at the end of the meal as a way to thank you for your order or to get you to tip or because the waiter had fun with you. They are always free. Here they CHARGED €3,50 for the shots. If I wanted to order shots that were on the menu, we would have done so. To come and ask if we wanted, in Madrid it means they're on the house. I really disliked trying to milk 20 bucks for those shots.

I've edited the review just to add the not-so-nice parts. The paella was good and we were with friends, so I would've forgotten about the table, service, expensive drinks...if it weren't for trying to stiff us for 20 bucks for shots. Maybe they get their...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Arrocería El Trato Gastrobar in Madrid, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! We enjoyed the Paella al Senyoret, a delightful seafood paella with all the seafood prepped and ready to eat. This thoughtful preparation made our meal both convenient and exceptionally enjoyable.

The paella itself was a masterpiece. It was juicy, with perfectly cooked seafood, and had that coveted crunchy bottom layer known as socarrat. Achieving such a balance is no easy feat, but Arrocería El Trato Gastrobar nailed it!

The service was top-notch; the staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Cleanliness is clearly a priority here, with spotless restrooms that reflect their high standards.

Although it’s not in the city center, it’s just a short 15-20 minute walk away, making it a hidden gem that caters to locals and discerning tourists alike. If you’re in Madrid, make sure to visit Arrocería El Trato Gastrobar for an authentic and high-quality paella experience. Highly recommended!

How fortunate were we to find this place!!!! We (from Canada ) were looking for Paella, and did we hit the jackpot!!! AWARD WINNING PAELLA in this intimate, impeccable and friendly family-run restaurant! We started with the delectable, most tender and tasty octopus & potatoes and a sangria, followed by one of their many choices of the most delicious paella you will EVER have, paired with a red wine (they'll recommend a very nice red or white suited to your tastes). THEN our dessert with my coffee was their Trés Leches. OMG what a treat!! Added bonus: I put some of the dessert leches (milk) in my coffee to create my own special coffee - cafe trés leches! :)) I want to take this restaurant...
