It is nice place I understand with a lot of history. The meny is simple and include some traditional tapas like patatas bravas, ensaladilla rusa, etc. Taste is quite ok. Prices and products are a little bit overrated. First I thought it was a local's place but it is more a place for tourists. The tips are a must, you as customer can not decide since it is already charged in the bill and I wonder if that is legal, probably you can discuss about that but who do it. Bar could be more a place for local but the restaurant I dont think so, I think it is more once time visit place. We did not experience a kind service neither rude but I was expecting more. I said thank you and I did not hear anything back (maybe it was too loudly). The building is nice and probably it was very popular among locals in its golden days, now I feel it is more like a place for tourists. If you are a tourist and you dont mind the restaurant charge you the tips without asking you and you dont mind prices and products a little bit overated, then it is a good place to visit. The taste is ok it just did not fulfill my expectations after reading, other reviews and after recommendation of someone my expectations was higher but taste is like that, someone might find it excellent, other will think is the opposite and others like in my case will said just ok. Summary: A little bit overrated and tips should be a decision of the customer not an obligation. We as customers should decide if we got a good product/service or not. It has potential for...
Read moreI would have given them a 4 but I've gone for a 3 star. So we made a reservation here and started our evening with drinks at the bar which was great. When we sat down, firstly after wanting to select a bottle, not only didn't they have the top bottle we requested, the 2nd bottle they didn't have and we went for a 3rd option. There was no care in the fact that they didn't have this wine, it was just a straight up no. Then, no. They had run out and stock wasn't coming in until the next day, well if that was me with my 2 top bottles unavailable, I would advise my patrons. Then my colleague ordered our meals and well there was 7 of us and they decided to bring my main out with the starters and again no care that this occurred and here I was eating my main whilst my friends eventually has their plates cleared and reset for their mains. I mean the lack of care was unbelievable if I didn't say anything they actually would of not cares and just said that it was my colleagues fault cause he ordered it incorrectly. Doesn't matter. Make it right. My food also was actually undercooked and I just couldn't enjoy my night. Service wasn't matched with the food and I definitely won't be recommending anyone to come here...
Read more10/10 experience! I was killing time before my flight on a Monday afternoon and came in for the menu del dia and it did not disappoint. I was in Madrid with friends all weekend and this was the best meal I had!
The food was fabulous and the staff were all super friendly and attentive. I sat at the bar and the bartender explained the menu. He spoke great English (which I don’t expect, but always nice when they try to help when you’re not a native Spanish speaker), and served the first course as soon as I was ready. It was gazpacho with little peppers (not spicy), which was very refreshing. Following that, I chose the main fish course, which was exquisite. Everything was light but flavorful!
I didn’t realize it, but I was sitting next to the owner who was having lunch with a friend and he was very kind and chatty, translating/explaining what the dessert options were when I asked a follow up question to the bartender. The menu del dia was three courses plus a sangria, and only 15 euros (!).
I don’t usually write reviews but I had an excellent experience, I would absolutely recommend and would love...
