An obligatory stop-off is a must for one of their famous "yayos" - a mix of gin, red vermouth and a dash of "casera" sweet soda. These things are delicious and dangerous alike. I say stop for one, and you could maybe stretch to two, but stop there - quit whilst you're ahead! Yayos are often the start of an epic (and somewhat messy) night in Malasaña. The bar is legendary, and the bar staff are too. There aren't too many places like this left, so it's worth a visit, and I'm sure you'll be back. The food options aren't anything special, so stick with olives or something basic if you really need a bite. You likely won't have time to eat though as the bar has a quick turnaround and gets crazy busy at peak times (from 20:00 onwards) so go early or prepare to wait / squeeze...

A must visit! We don’t speak the language and this place seems a bit intimidating but it’s so good and such a vibe. Seems like a place Anthony Bourdain would have raved about, RIP. Not a touristy place more of a local spot and it is small. Must order a yayos, gin mixed with vermouth on top and a splash of soda water and lemon. Warning though because they are strong but small. They give a complimentary bite with the drinks which pairs perfectly. But the highlight was the iberico ham, the best we had on our week long trip. Not sure what the quality grade is but it was velvety and melt in mouth with an acorn nuttiness. Hope places like these...

Our experience was going perfect until raised our voice pitch. Then the waiter told us to not to speak so load, so we did. Later, the whole bar was so crowded we managed to speak loud enough just to be heard each other, and when we asked for another round of their good vermouth and gin, they told us to leave. We were a group of 35 years friki researchers, just imagine how bad could that be... In our opinion, they didn't want to keep serving, and as we had already an advise it was a good excuse to make us go. The place is absolutely full on weekends, so they didn't need it money anyway. It you won't speak loud, this...
