From the moment I stepped into the Madrid History Museum, I was transported back in time to the very heart of Spain's vibrant capital. Each exhibit is a chapter of Madrid's rich tapestry, beautifully curated to tell the stories that have shaped this city.

The collection is extensive, ranging from stunning paintings like Juan de la Corte's depiction of festivities in Plaza Mayor to intricate city models that offer a bird's-eye view of Madrid's historical evolution. The museum does an exceptional job of blending art, artifacts, and interactive displays, making history accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages.

What I appreciated most was the balance between the grandiose and the intimate—majestic tapestries hang alongside personal letters and photographs that offer a glimpse into the daily lives of Madrileños across...

But…where did the finances come from to build Madrid? Why about Madrids existential relationship to the banking families in Italy and the conquistas?

What a fascinating history this city has. Unfortunately the History Museum of Madrid presents an exhibition that is too bubbled within the royal perspective and one that seems too reduced. One is left wanting to understand the relationships, infrastructure and global forces that fuelled the building frenzy around its rural royal leisure and hunting grounds. Furthermore, there is not, as far as I could see, any information about how these hunting grounds were established and which peoples and ways of life they inevitably displaced and reconfigured. While enjoyable, one is left without much of an understanding of the mechanics behind the spectacle and...

Unceasingly interesting museum of the history of our beloved city. The historical artifacts, maps, paintings, sculptures etc are just amazing. The original plans and models of iconic buildings of the town are simply fantastic. Some of these exhibits can be seen through a mobile app, which tells you the whole story and even let the images, quite literally, come alive, which is rather engaging for the younger generation. The building itself (in which the museum is housed I mean) is also of artistic and historical significance. All in all an unmissable visit, a walk through the past of Madrid, and a view an understanding of the city where I live that I didn't have before.
