We payed for a picture 1,800 Euro, it was shipped to us in a thin cardboard tube that was damaged during the shipping. There are cracks in the picture and the gallery didn’t took responsibility. Such expensive art can not be shipped in such low cost package. See the picture attached, the crack is duplicated on the picture inside, is this a package for international shipping?

Regarding your answer First we asked you again and again where is the package where no one told us it is in customs, and when using the tracking number it did’t show anything. But you main responsibility is the packaging: “The packaging we used is the same that we've been using for our shipments for 8 years so far without any incident” Is not an excuse, 10 Euro card board tube is not a proper package for 1,800 Euro art! And if it didn’t damaged in the past it is not a proof that it is ok to use it, many people pass a road without looking right and left and nothing happen to them, you can not say that it is safe to pass without looking...

The art in the gallery is amazing… the staff is under-informed about transporting artwork. I purchased a print and explained that I would be packing it in a suitcase and asked to have it rolled in a tube shipping tube (which they had available) the staff refused and said they could only put it in a flat cardboard envelope. We argued about it, but they insisted it would be fine… I now own a worthless creased art print. I should have listed to my intuition, the gallery should have listened to my request. Lesson learned at the expense of my souvenir.
