New Restaurant with good Food.
I am not usually a salad person but I saw some gorgeous looking watermelon salad that I wanted to try.
Momma was a little unimpressed and I won't lie, it was kind of disappointing.
The dressing tasted kind of funny to me and the salad itself just wasn't that good.
But I tried a tiny bite and it was okay, just not what I wanted.
Then I had some fried calamari appetizer which was super yummy.
There were a lot of different calamari types and all of them were cooked just right and a perfect bite.
I didn't finish it so it was good enough for me.
And for the entree, I had the chicken risotto with shrimp.
The chicken was really good, and had a great flavor and was really tender.
The risotto was very good, and the shrimp were done just right.
It was just so, so good.
And it had some real chunks of cooked chicken, not the little pieces that I usually get when I order fried seafood.
This was very much a fish and seafood restaurant.
The menu had scallops and other seafood types.
I'm so glad that I decided to try this place.
The atmosphere was nice, and I loved the open kitchen area, and the company was nice too.
All in all, it was a nice relaxing lunch, just Momma and me.
Today has been an absolutely beautiful day.
The sun is shining and the temp. is around 82 degrees with a slight breeze.
It's a great day to be outside.
It's not too hot to be outside or cold enough to keep you in the air conditioning.
In fact, I'm enjoying my leftover popcorn for breakfast, sitting outside on my patio.
But I've gotta say that yesterday afternoon was kind of a bummer.
I'd just returned home from being at the park.
I was watching my kids play with their friends and the ball field behind my home was quiet.
Everyone was playing or watching tv or reading a book or something.
Then all of a sudden there was...
Read moreBefore today, I considered this cafe to be a nice place to study with great drinks and lovely female staff. However, today was the first time I had an interaction with the manager or storeowner Alex. He arrived and was extremely rude to me and those sitting around me. He told me I could not use my reusable water bottle that I brought from home, despite the fact that I had purchased a pastry, sandwich, and beverage upon arrival. When I questioned his reasoning being that the cafe offers free water to its customers, he stated it was "his cafe, his rules" in a manner that was extremely rude, unprofessional, and intolerant. He then asked me to leave. It was clear he had a strong superiority complex and a misogynistic demeanor, considering he only targeted female customers around me. I agreed to his request and asked for his name because he made me feel uncomfortable. However, when I was packing up my stuff, he took a picture of me without MY CONSENT. This is not okay and I will be reporting Alex to the local comisaría if he does anything with this photo. La Doña will lose my business and the business of the many friends I know who have studied there previously;
Update: Clearly your unprofessionalism is shown in the fact that you copied and pasted the same response to five separate negative reviews. No tuve comida de afuera en MI mesa, solo tuve agua GRATIS. Estoy en mi derecho de hablar en ingles con mis compañeras. Nadie está haciendo una extorsión de tu negocio. Es una lastima que tenga el...
Read moreI visited La dona at C. de San Bernardo, 57, Centro, 28015 Madrid, Spain, hoping to enjoy a casual meal but ended up thoroughly disappointed. I ordered a sandwich with tortilla and a smoothie, expecting a blend of hearty, authentic flavors, yet both dishes were a letdown. The sandwich tasted bland and uninspired, with the tortilla failing to add any richness or character, making it evident that the ingredients were of poor quality. The smoothie, which should have been a refreshing complement, turned out to be equally tasteless and unappetizing.
The negative experience wasn’t limited to the food. The service was notably unfriendly; the staff seemed disinterested and unapproachable, which only amplified the overall disappointment. Adding insult to injury, every little extra came with an additional charge—even something as basic as mayonnaise was not free. This insistence on charging for every extra detail left me questioning the value for money at this establishment.
Overall, my visit to La dona was marked by mediocre food and lackluster service. It’s hard to understand how this place continues to attract customers when the quality of the meal and the overall hospitality are so severely lacking. I wouldn’t recommend La dona to anyone seeking a satisfying dining...
