After having La Santoria on my list of places to try for a long time, I finally dashed in to escape the rain and try a potion. Creative and delicious cocktails in a very well curated space. I had the Guadalupe, a creative tequila based cocktail with notes of pepper and violet, the latter of which is a flavor that I associate with Madrid. The cocktail was beautifully prepared with a floral garnish and a cute charm bracelet to keep. The flavors were really well balanced, with a nice initial spice and the lingering floral sweetness of the violet. Very enjoyable with a flavor profile that I haven’t found in other cocktail bars in Madrid.

In terms of ambiance, I love that this place has a very curated feel to it without feeling kitschy or overly conscious of its own presentation. This bar manages to be very niche without seeming to be conceived solely for Instagram likes— a pitfall that many cocktail bars in madrid fall victim to, in my opinion. I think this has to do with the fact that the staff is very attentive and clearly passionate about what they do. Additionally, the backstory of Santoria, which is explained to guests, is meaningful and sort of “decolonizes” the voodoo vibe of the space— it’s not everyday you get to have a cocktail AND get a history lesson.

Would love to come back and try the Peruvian food they have on the menu!

Overall, this is a cozy space that’s recommendable for catching up with friends or an intimate date setting. I’ll be back!

Madrud Spain, One of the most interesting bars I have ever been to. The interior is very interesting. It has lots of old photos, crosses, interesting, flowers, and decorations. It’s very dark and red inside. I actually really enjoyed it when you get to this location it’s very hard to find because there is no sign outside there is a little doorbell to enter, and the host will come out and let you in if there is seats available. The cocktails are not cocktails as defined by them. they are described more as potions and have meanings behind every single drink. They even give you a bracelet that has a meaning with the drink.
