I wanted to give this place a shot after discovering them on Instagram. I went for dinner tonight and I left completely disappointed. Upon ordering, I asked them if they had any fresh hot peppers, they said that they did but couldn’t bring them out. I asked to pay for them, they said that it wasn’t possible. In the 31 years of going to taquerias both in the United States in Mexico, never have I encountered a Mexican taqueria that either did not have them or that didn’t want to give me or sell me hot peppers or even a hotter hot sauce. It’s like going to a Spanish restaurant and them not having olive oil. The cashier was rude when she told me this was not possible.
My gf and I waited 40 minutes for 4 tacos each and 2 quesabirrias. When they came out, they were cold. The quesabirrias broke apart easily and they were too salty. The tortillas for the tacos were hard and hard to chew. The salsas weren’t spicy and lacked flavor and on top of that, they charge you extra for salsas when they should come with each taco at no additional charge.
There was nothing special about the meat. There are far more authentic taquerias throughout Madrid with open salsa bars, faster service and less attitude from its employees toward their customers. Look for yourself, go through all of the replies the owners have written to people that have complained about their service. They sound completely deranged. Pay close attention to how aggressive they will respond to this review. Why would you want to go to a place with such negative vibes? They get highly defensive and write disrespectful replies. I’m surprised they’re still in business with the quality of the food they serve and how they respond to these reviews. The same vibes you see in their replies is the same vibes felt inside...
Read moreWhile wandering aimlessly, and without kids (fit a change) through the charming streets of Malasaña, my wife and I stumbled upon a tiny, minimalist eatery that immediately caught our eye: Mami Taco’s. What started as a spontaneous stop turned into one of the most delightful dining experiences of our trip to Madrid.
The place is small, simple, and full of heart. We were greeted with genuine warmth and served with a smile. The service was impressively quick, and within minutes, we were savoring tacos that can only be described as flavor explosions. Every bite felt effortless, satisfying, and unexpectedly perfect — just what we needed, without even realizing it.
And the margaritas? Absolutely incredible. Fresh, balanced, and unbelievably affordable. It’s rare to find cocktails this good at such a price.
We left Mami Taco’s glowing with happiness, feeling lucky to have found this unassuming little spot. It reminded us that sometimes the best memories are made when you least expect them. If you’re in Madrid and find yourself in Malasaña, do yourself a favor...
Read morePersonally I thought the food was pretty underwhelming. Wasn’t good enough to warrant a higher rating nor negate the insane stomach pain it gave me that kept me up all night. Rly nice service and presentation though. Way too expensive since there are a million other better taquerias in Madrid that charge less for way more food. The one star is specifically for the insane gastrointestinal troubles, sorry.
Owner responded and calls me a liar. LOL! To imply that I have it out for this specific taco restaurant and want to ruin its reputation by openly lying about the stomach troubles it gave me and my friend who dined with me is ridiculous. I posted my honest review which was influenced by a awful night spent mostly on the toilet. I don't have a vendetta against this place nor its owners. Let me post a review in peace and advise others that what happened to my friend and I very well could happen to them. Don't call people liars;...
