Last Saturday a group of my friends and I went to Mr Kabab. It was recommended to us by a friend of ours as one of the best Persian restaurants in Madrid. The food was superb I cannot deny it, however, the behaviour of the owner left a really unpleasant aftertaste.
We were supposed to be five, but in the end one of our friends could not make it at the last moment. We only found out that she would not come when we arrived at the restaurant. Immediately we received a negative remark from whoever was in the kitchen that we must have warned them in advance - how could we do that if we found out ourselves when we arrived? Then we made an initial order of three main courses with drinks with possibility of ordering more. Again remarks came from the kitchen that not only we were four instead of five, but we ordered just three courses. In their opinion they could have given the seats to a larger group who could have ordered more than three main dishes. All of this was passed on to us through the waiters by what seems to be the owner of the restaurant.
If it was indeed the owner of the restaurant who was responsible for such low remarks, then he is a coward who lets out his frustrations on the already overworked staff. As a result, none of us are going to return to Mr Kabab and dissuade our friends from...
Read moreFood was really good. Staff were friendly and offered recommendations from the menu which is nice.
We were recommended a starter to share and a platter for two, which we ordered. Within five minutes of the starter arriving (we were only halfway through), the main arrived. Then we were asked if we were finished when we still had food on our plates. We felt like we were quite rushed even though the restaurant was not busy. If I could offer advice, it would be to slow down a bit and allow us to finish our course before bringing the next one. We were in and out within 40 minutes and this took the shine off a great restaurant.
This issue is not enough to give less than five stars, however, as the food was fantastic and the restaurant was lovely. Staff were friendly, but need to...
Read moreWe enjoyed the food and atmosphere at this Persian restaurant right next to cuatro caminos. The ground beef kebab was juicy and delicious although I would prefer it to be more spiced. I ordered the white beans as a replacement for the white rice for a 1 euro supplement, but I still received the white rice, with just a few beans on top. I would have like this to be more clear as it seemed like the beans would replace the rice. For dessert we ordered the baklava, this was my favorite part of the meal. It was a sampler of four types and they were each unique and delicious. It is a shame they don’t offer a lunch menu, as it comes out a little expensive compared to other options in the area. If I come back, it will probably...
