Four of us had dinner here on 2/12/24, arriving at about 7:00pm. The restaurant's decor is quite lovely with a relaxed non-commercial feel.
Two of us had pizza, two had pasta. All the food was delicious including the tiramisu and pistachio ice cream desserts.
At the start, two of us ordered a bottled water, the other two a simple glass of Rioja. But what we received after a considerable wait was more like a fruit-loaded sangria sweetened with a sugary liquor. It was just undrinkably sweet and not even what was ordered. It's hard to understand how a restaurant server in Madrid doesn't know what a glass of Rioja is. 🤯
After the meal I attempted to use the men's room. Since it is only a single serve bathroom (in a restaurant whose seating capacity is about 70!) I had to wait nearly 10 minutes. With no small amount of urgency I finally got in only to discover the tiny bathroom was filthy. I asked our server if there was another bathroom. Nope. So I had no option but to clean it myself before I could use it. This is disgraceful.
Clearly the management team does not operate as well as the kitchen staff does. Despite the very nice food I will not return to...
Read moreHonestly not sure how this place has such good reviews. We booked a table for 8pm, for 3 of us, arrived and were made to wait. After a while we were taken upstairs where there was virtually no one and loads of empty tables. They didn’t have a very wide selection of wine. We ordered a starter to share and waited ages for bread to arrive (which they then charged us twice for), when the bread finally arrived, and just as we were about to enjoy our starter, our mains appeared, so we had to eat our starter and main at the same time. The Michelin inspired pastas was very good, however that’s probably the only good one as all the other pastas were rather plain. The staff was kind but there was no attention to the customer whatsoever, it was all very rushed and overall not the most enjoyable experience. I’d recommend elsewhere if you’re looking for...
Read moreAbsolutely five stars for Mariah at Oven Restaurant! From the moment we sat down, she made us feel like VIPs—warm welcome, big smile, and spot-on recommendations. Mariah knows the menu inside out and tailored suggestions to our tastes and dietary preferences without missing a beat. Drinks came quickly, courses were perfectly paced, and she checked in at just the right moments—attentive but never intrusive.
What really stood out was her genuine hospitality: she noticed we were celebrating and surprised us with a sweet touch at the end. Small details—fresh cutlery before each course, remembering our names, and anticipating refills—turned a good meal into a great experience. The food at Oven is fantastic, but Mariah is the reason we’ll be back (and bringing friends). If you’re dining here, ask for Mariah—you’ll be in...
