100000% RECOMMENDED. This is Spanish gastronomy at its best! I have never tasted paella like this. This is a hidden gem discovery in Madrid. If u are a vegan there is thr vege version which has 11 different veges in there, mushrooms, artichokes etc.. I have never tasted anything like this!! Im from land down under, coming to Madrid, I really wanna have great paella, but since Madrid isnt really the origin of paella so, it takes a personal discovery to find such a great place. The taste is spot on. Their best seller is Arroz Soneret that has good seafood and a great seafood tatse on it. Then theres other great selections such as The vegetarian option, black ink squid option. Their wine selection is amazing. You get to have table sittings inside a local market environment. it is not far from thr center. Just a train to Puerta del angel metro and it takes 2 mins walk.
The owner is super hospitable, you can see that they are passionate about their food and they are doing this for Real. They cook their...
Read moreDo not be fooled by its simple appearance and presentation. This restaurant is about as delicious and authentic as it gets! Tried paella in Barcelona, San Sebastian, and Madrid, amongst other places across the globe, and this one has just made it to the top of my recommendations list. Definitely make time for a paella lunch here with Chef Javier and his team of paelleros! I strongly recommend the paella Valenciana. They've also got a specialty vegetarian paella (mind you, I'm a hardcore carnivore) that blew our minds! Their paella negra (made of squid ink) is amazing as well. A dab of their alioli and you'll be transported to flavour paradise! ¡Muchas gracias para todos...

On the flipside, the taste is not as immediate and captivating as in a top paella restaurant in Valencia. Still, the "senyoret" was pretty good. I wouldn't recommend the black rice, though, since it lacked that characteristic dense color and, accordingly, had little flavor. Tortilla is the only starter they have—and it's delicious. Bottom line: Paellamar is great for a quick lunch if you happen to be in the neighborhood but probably not worth a detour if you're a...
