Aesthetically speaking, the restaurant looks attractive and has a calm atmosphere which for me is already a big plus. Regarding the waiters: I wasn’t the happiest… I was attended pretty fast and received my first meal in no more than 5 minutes after deciding what I wanted to eat. I went for Salmorejo Cordobés and Chuletón. The waiter seemed to have more experience in comparison with the other two waitresses who were moving pretty slow (to the point where I literally had to stand up and go to one of them to ask for a dessert). I really felt like they were purposefully avoiding looking at me for some reason, but I know I’m making this up. Then when I asked for the check apparently the chuletón even though it was included in the weekend menu cost 3,50€ more. When I looked at the menu, it said “Chuletón con patatas fritas - suplemento 3,50€” which made me think that they’d charge me that specific amount of money if I wanted something added with the meal. In reality, the meal itself cost 3,50€. The waitress made a mistake and told me it was because of the potatoes, so once again, there should be more attention paid. I was really frustrated but after all I ended up appreciating this restaurant because it showed that they were trying their best to ensure we have a good time. The food was good, no complains at all, if I have something to say about it it’s because I’d have different preferences for how I like my Salmorejo to be prepared but that is already something else. The prices are good, 16€ for a menu during weekends and 12€ during weekdays which is actually pretty cheap.
Just a quick note: I didn’t see any translation in english for the meals which might make things a little harder, but it’s not something bad necessarily but just needs to be taken into consideration as an advice to improve...
Read moreWell, hello there! Do you like small spaces and huge crowds crammed into a tiny location? How about cheap beers and sub-par appetizers? If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, this might be the place for you. I would describe Madrid Madriz as an old school bar in a booming, hipster-populated part of the city. They do in fact serve cheap beer and I’ve never seen the place be at least somewhat empty (Maybe because of the cheap beer? A mystery that might never be solved). As a matter of fact, in the three years I’ve been living in the city, I had not had the opportunity to even enter the place until quite recently. I was surprised to find out that they have a wider, more comfortable second floor with tables, chairs and waiters. I can’t really comment on the quality of the food, since all I managed to eat were chips and assorted nuts. The vibe in the place, along with the décor, make it feel like you stepped back in time, to a time when sushi restaurants, designer shops and improvised art galleries didn’t populate the area. The location couldn’t be better. Right outside of the Tribunal Metro Station, smack down in the middle of Calle Fuencarral. I’m not sure, but I’m pretty certain they’ve been there for quite some time. If you’re out with friends and want to have a beer (or a few) in quaint little place, and if you don’t mind crowds and loud noises, by all...
Read moreThere's was a hair on my husband paella. The person who take care of us was rude. Rushing us to see the menu and then ignoring us when we asked for the check. The food was not great but the price of the menú diario is a good price. At the end we asked for separate checks (split in 2) and the waitress told me to do it myself since I had a calculator on my phone and she didn't. How hard it is to split the check? We did it regardless and they end up saying we didn't pay the full amount. We had to pull a calculator and add it up in front of them. 45 + 27 is definitely not 60. Terrible service and attitude! If you are a tourist I don't...
