Billy Brunch — Restaurant in Madrid

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Madrid, Spain and stumbled upon a hidden gem of a brunch spot called Billy. As someone who appreciates a delicious breakfast to kickstart the day, I instantly fell in love with this cozy and inviting eatery.

One thing that immediately caught my eye on the menu was their Superfood omelette. Packed with fresh vegetables, avocado, and nutritious quinoa, this omelette was not only pleasing to the eye but also a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals. The presentation was impeccable, and the taste surpassed all expectations. The eggs were cooked to perfection, with a fluffy texture that combined beautifully with the crunchiness of the vegetables. It was undoubtedly one of the best omelettes I have ever had.

But Billy didn't stop impressing me there. Their pancakes were out of this world. Perfectly golden and fluffy, they were served with an assortment of mouthwatering toppings. From fresh berries to a variety of syrups, each bite sent my taste buds into a blissful frenzy. The portion size was generous, making it a great choice for those with hearty appetites.

The atmosphere at Billy was warm and inviting, with friendly staff who were more than willing to help with any dietary preferences or questions. The interior had a rustic yet modern feel to it, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a leisurely brunch. The music playing in the background added to the overall ambiance, creating a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

As someone travelling all the way from the USA, I can confidently say that Billy brunch was worth the trip alone. Choosing, this spot for breakfast made my mornings in Madrid even more memorable. The combination of amazing food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere left a lasting impression on me.

Normally I don’t post negative reviews, but I genuinely couldn’t believe some of the things that went on here. I asked for a table for one and was directed to a window seat that was clearly the waiting area. There was a built-in window box of two small seats with a small table between them. I thought I was being asked to wait there while they found me a table, so I placed my order. No. I was being asked to eat SIDEWAYS. They expected me to turn my upper body a full 90° from my lower body to eat, behind a kids rocking horse. When they brought my food, I asked to move and was told the only other place they had was the tiny waiting area coffee table. I accepted because it was better than eating sideways.

After that, three other people asking for a table for one came in. All of them got seated in the actual restaurant.

I tried to be as polite as possible, but I knew in that moment I was going to write this review. Absolutely shocking. You didn’t want to use a two-person table, so you made me eat in the waiting area, and then didn’t offer me a proper table when they became available - which they clearly were because you seated other people.

I regularly visit Madrid, I always stay in Malasaña, and I always get brunch on the weekend because it’s not really a thing where I live. This was a trial run because the reviews seemed great. How wrong I was. Never, ever again.

As someone who used to work in hospitality, I know that the correct procedure is to tell someone there isn’t room available but you can wait if you want. What the serving staff at Billy Brunch did - making a person who’s almost 1,90m tall initially eat sideways and then get moved to a coffee table only after complaining - was utterly ridiculous. I can’t believe the utter stupidity and rudeness of it....

We went to Billy Brunch to kick off my husband’s birthday, and I am so glad that we did!!!! The place was buzzing when we first got there, so you know, it’s gonna be good. Even though it was busy, the staff was especially friendly and helpful. We got seated right away, and were delighted at the welcoming conversation by our server. The items on the menu have great variety and exciting options, including healthy stuff too. Everything we ordered was bomb- cappuccino, vegan pancakes, omelette, avocado toast, and the Moroccan, mint tea… The tea was outstanding! Fresh herbs, loose leaf, and our server blended it several times right in front of us. There’s not too many places out there who really care about tea or do it right, and I was so pleasantly surprised to dine at a place that appreciates their tea, and does it with care. On top of all this, the staff serenaded my husband with the most positive birthday song and display – they even gave him a mug as a gift! Billy Brunch turned what would have been a nice birthday brunch into an outstanding memory that fills our hearts with joy and love every time we think about it. Thank you Billy...
