Trinakria Sabores Sicilianos — Restaurant in Madrid

Update: Thanks to the staff at Trinakria, I got to try the Calabria pizza again (this time, on the house) a couple of days ago. The 'nduja was on the pizza this time and what a nice, spicy kick it added! The pizza crust was 8 cereales...though I prefer the original crust, it was still very good. Would definitely get the Calabria again. I decided to try the tradicional arancini and, like the pizza, I got the correct item and it was very good. Thanks Trinakria! Great service and food! Really disappointed and don't get the hype...I ordered a pizza and arancini for pick up...when I opened the arancini, it was - surprise! - not the one I ordered...and when I opened the pizza box - surprise #2! - no 'ndujia on the Calabria :( Also, I found the toppings on the pizza to be pretty skimpy in terms of quantity (just a few slices of mushroom and salami picante scattered around the pizza). The taste for both items was pretty good though. Was hoping to find a decent pizza place in the area to come to with co-workers. Will not...

Lamentablemente sabores sicilianos quedan ya pocos allí. Ahora lo llevan unos muchachos que tengo dudas de que hayan pisado Sicilia o conozcan su gastronomía. La cuestión es que a las 14.30 estaban todos fuera del local, tranquilamente fumando y tomando café, y con el local vacío y las luces del comedor apagadas. Teniendo en cuenta lo que tardaron en servir la comida (más de media hora) imagino que no tenían ni el horno encendido. Llegaron dos pizzas, más pequeñas de lo acostumbrado, con un gran borde de pan abultado y una distribución desigual de los ingredientes. Estaban buenas. Curiosamente la pizza Norma, cuyo ingrediente estrella es la berenjena, estaba cubierta de calabacín. Imagino ya a los auténticos sicilianos sufriendo en este punto un ictus. Lo mejor es que se lo hago notar al camarero y me dice que son "berenjenas italianas" y que son así. No quise discutir. Qué sabré yo que sólo soy bilingüe, he mamado la cultura italiana desde los 5 años y he viajado por toda Italia (incluída Sicilia) unas 10 veces al menos. Al pagar 36€ por dos pizzas y dos aguas minerales (las pizzas estaban buenas pero ni de lejos valían ese precio) pido que me enseñen esas berenjenas italianas, que tengo curiosidad. El "cocinero" me saca una bolsa llenita de calabacines blancos. Se quedó bastante perplejo cuando le dije que eso no eran berenjenas (un cocinero debería saber diferenciar una cucurbitácea de una solanácea) y se excusó diciendo que el proveedor se lo había vendido como berenjenas. Pues muy bien chaval, mañana te trae una bolsa de naranjas, te dice que son "berenjenas valencianas" y se lo echas a la pizza. Resumiendo: falta mucho conocimiento, falta mucha experiencia y saber hacer (no se puede atender a gente que está comiendo apestando a tabaco que acabas de fumar en la calle) y falta mucha humildad, porque para cobrar 15€ por esas pizzas (8-9€ habría estado bien) hay que tener bastante desparpajo, por decirlo finamente. Doy por hecho que han cogido el traspaso del local y no han cambiado el nombre, pero creo que deberían replantearse si están preparados para ofrecer lo que pone ahí, sabores sicilianos, y si no, tal vez cambiar el tipo de negocio por algo que concuerde mejor con sus...

My wife and I ate in here. We were shocked when we paid the bill and they nearly added 1 euro to each pizza. When we asked why, they said because there is a "eat-in" price and take-away price. There was no mention of different prices by the man who took the order. The only prices we saw were apparently the take-away prices. It is absolutely outrageous to add nearly 1 euro more per pizza. What possible explanation could there be? Do they use 1 euro of soap and water to wash the plate the pizza came on? Do they charge for the oxygen we had to breathe in the restaurant. Ridiculous policy. I would understand charging 20 cents for take-away because they had to buy a pizza box. For eating...
