Tropikal Luxury Buffet — Restaurant in Madrid

This place is definitely a hidden gem. I was very skeptical because usually buffet style restaurants aren't my thing, especially because the menu usually leaves more to be desired. But my friends suggested going there for dinner and they had a lot of nice things to say. So thought, why not. AND this was a completely different experience I must say, I absolutely loved most of the dishes we tried. And all dishes were served and presented really thoughtfully, plus the quality was definitely above what I expected. The service was fast and efficient though it was practically full ( also another hint that this place is doing something right!!!😄👍🏻✅).

We ordered many dishes to share and I'm order to experience more of them. So I got to try many dishes, and definitely it was a pleasant surprise. Many dishes were really good I'd gladly visit again and recommend to others. And since it's a buffet concept, you pay a flat price (drinks and desserts excluded, you need to pay for it separately). We paid €28 each + drinks and I feel it's value for money. The decor and interior setting was very comfortable, modern and cozy. Very nicely done. Was very clean from what I saw. And the servers were friendly and professional. I wanted to take some photos of the venue/restaurant- buffet, but didn't want to invade the space of other customers, as it was almost full when we arrived. (I recommend making reservations, just in case you don't get a table).

So, here is the thing: the ambience is great and the service is top quality as well.

However, I was very disappointed by the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but I expected something worth the reputation this place has and that matches the luxurious decoration and what I got was, at the end of the day, pretty bland food.

Flavor just wasn't there for me. In addition, I am a tall guy and I was left hungry for more.

The business lunch is competitively prized at around the 14€ mark but I could probably find something tastier and larger for the same price.

The food was delicious, but in a large group of people the ordering can get very chaotic, especially when dishes are coming out at different times, and no one knows whose is whose. We ordered a sushi roll that didn't have shrimp listed in the description at all, but when it came it had shrimp and the servers just told us that's the one we ordered, it just doesn't list shrimp on the menu. Either they just brought the wrong roll (there was one on the menu with the same ingredients as the one we ordered, just with shrimp added) or the menu is wrong, but as someone allergic to shrimp, I wasn't thrilled about that.
