The evening started great, the service seemed amazing and it went downhill quickly. When we entered, there was only one other table occupied and service was prompt and very friendly. Bread was brought out right away and it was excellent. We ordered our food with advice from the waiter. We ordered an Avocado salad as a starter, which was delicious and came out very quickly. My friend had also ordered another starter, Onion soup which was brought out very quickly after the salad with my main course. I ordered (at the advice of the waiter) Corvina with fennel sauce. It came out so quickly, that it had to have either been pre-cooked or possibly microwaved. It was not hot, had zero flavor in a cold starchy sauce and part of the fish was actually very tough. I actually think that the waiter recommended this dish to get rid or excess Corvina before it spoiled. It was a terrible suggestion. My friend ordered rice with partridge and mushroooms for his main course, which was actually very good. Our main courses should have been brought out at the same time. When the waiter was delivering our food, a group of 6 people entered and sat in back of us and two other tables of 2 people each. Both waiters and the owner were on top of that table. We were both very tired and asked for the check 6 times over the course of 15 min. We were basically totally ignored after the group of 6 came in----you would have thought that the king was at that table. The restaurant is a bit hard to find and the front door is hidden down a sidewalk. Prices are definitely not cheap and I wish that it would have been harder to find so that we would have gone somewhere else. My advice to other diners---go to...
Read moreSacha Madrid is truly an institution. You feel it the moment you step inside. It is not easy to find a table here, and I was lucky to get a late lunch reservation. The ambiance is full of character, with ultramarine blue floors and white walls adorned with framed historical photos and artwork. The space feels like a charming home, and the combination of blue and white tones with crisp white tablecloths creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service was impeccable from the start, the staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The food combines classic tradition with artistic expression. The “fake lasagna” filled with king crab was outstanding, delicate yet rich in flavor. A large langoustine served on a vegetable sauce was equally memorable. We also tried the “Snowfall” salad, a refreshing mix of peach and young pea shoots with a perfectly balanced dressing. The sole meunière was flawlessly cooked, delicate and buttery. It paired beautifully with a non-oaked Albariño, which was crisp, fresh, and vibrant. Dessert also deserves a mention. I forgot the name, but it was absolutely delicious. I will let the photo speak for itself in my post. The menu was only in Spanish, but we used our phones to translate and never felt lost. The manager and our waiter explained every dish with care and enthusiasm, so the language was never an obstacle. We were truly happy to find a table. Sacha is much more than a restaurant. It is an experience worth...
Read moreI'm sorry to say that we were completely underwhelmed by Sacha. I'm not one to write reviews trashing restaurants randomly, but there were several misfires that made our dinner lackluster. First was ordering a wine for a year that was highly rated but given a wine for a different year - the wine for the year on the menu was"not available" as it was not chilled. This felt like a bait and switch. The endive salad I ordered was one of those deconstructed plates that needed to have been seen to be believed - literally a plate of single endive leaves arranged in three rows, completely unseasoned and not dressed, with a side of a sad pico de gallo like "salsa" and a cup of mayonaisse. Boring to the max. My partner's onion soup was fine, but not better than anything you will find in Paris. The much-heralded "tortilla vaga" is ridulously overpriced at 30 euro, and much less delicious than any tortilla de patatas that you'll find just about anywhere in Madrid, and ultimately a complete farce. Entrees were a little better - the "false lasagna" with king crab was interesting but ultimately unmemorable. Only the desserts felt more interesting - my violet helado was quite delicious. I would say the hype has probably outstripped what was originally an interesting place, but in its current incarnation, I'm sorry to say that Sacha is not...
