I never really write reviews but I feel that I have to say something because the waiter at Umami was extremely rude to me.. not just unfriendly, but actually disrespectful. When we entered the café there were no chairs available so my partner ordered our things to take away, but then a spot at the bar opened up and I sat down to eat my slice of cake with our coffees.. A waiter came up to me and started waving his hands around and asserted that I have to eat somewhere else because I ordered "take away". I suggested to put the cake on a plate but he just stormed off.. this really left a bad taste in my mouth. I was coming into he café to enjoy my morning not to be spoken to like a child. If there is an extra charge on the cake/coffees to have them at a table, I would understand.. but there is a way to talk to people, especially customers.. You don't just point your fingers in someone's face. If he had communicated nicely maybe I would have understood what he was so frustrated about .. but now I just recommend to grab a speciality coffee at the café across the...
Read moreSeems super nice on the outside and honestly is a real cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately charging 4⏠for a carrot cake thatâs very dry and hard (from the day before) I feel is a bit much. If it was vegan or something fair enough but your standard carrot cake from the day before being charged at 4⏠definitely was an interesting observation. Then a chai latte that tastes like a good tea without evening putting cinnamon on top and do not even fill the cup to full which is nice but cannot be classed really as a chai latte. But well the flat white had the right amount of shots so at least the barista knows something for a place that is classed as âspeciality coffee.â Donât like to be so picky but man itâs becoming hard finding a place thatâs actually focused on speciality coffee without just saying they are. Hope this review helps...
Read moreRight off Paseo del Prado, Umami serve specialty coffee from Dabov, a high-quality Bulgarian roastery. They have two types of beans on separate grinders: a single-origin (for espresso) and a blend (for milk drinks). The espresso I had in mid-March was a naturally processed single-origin from Brazil with a rather flat chocolate flavor. Apart from coffee, Umami has a decent food menu. We ordered the Pastrami sandwich, salmon-avocado toast and carrot cake. They were all good but not exciting, just average coffee-shop fare. The interior is also not particularly inviting. If you happen to be in the neighborhood and want to grab a coffee and/or a light meal, Umami is a solid choice. But I don't think it's worth deliberately coming here all...
