Chiringuito Asucar Beach — Restaurant in Marbella

I went to this establishment for the first time today, and for me the most memorable aspect was explaining to my 7-year-old the meaning of the word incompetent.

On the positive side: I had a glorious pint of Victoria – enjoyed at this place after walking the very long Golden Mile from Marbella to Puerto Banús with my family. If anyone has seen the film Ice Cold in Alex it felt earned.

On the negative side: they don’t so much do customer service here as occasionally randomly walk around offering food and drinks to tables that didn’t order them and ignoring the ones that had. Mathematically this would eventually work in your favour occasionally, but instead they kept circling the same few tables leaving the majority of customers in a seething pool of pass-agg.

By comparison we had a simple request having waited an hour for what was essentially a bowl of fries, and asking for the bill a few times, we pointed out that said chips, which never arrived, probably shouldn’t be included in the bill. Having gone through this process a few times the young waiter coolly explained that this was “none of his business.”.Sorted!

They cheating their clients! The food is ok in general for a quick lunch while you're on the beach, but some managers are cheating clients: While having our lunch with my family I gave my 8 years old son 4 euro for an ice cream. He ordered one ball of ice cream. The girl didn't gave him a change and the manager was trying to make me think that there are two balls in a core. I took a fork and pooled out the ice cream out of it and there was only one ball inside. What a shame to cheat 8 years kid. I asked my money back and they didn't even gave any excuses for this incident. Next time I will call the police. Very often (4 of 5 time I ordered) they do not fill the glass of beer completely so you have less than 0,5 liter you have paid for. Shame.

I hope that the general manager of this place will talk to the personnel and explain that cheating their clients means ruing the restaurant reputation and dramatically...

Great location by the beach and sun shining did not salvage Asucar today. Service, at first, was attentive and ok, but as we had ordered everything seemed to take a long time. Worse than the slow service was the quality of food, which was well below par. Our sea food combo looked great, but all food was overdone and dry. My wife's ice-cream was icy and probably had been refrozen. What a shame, it could easily be so much better. This is an atypical score from me and I am prepared to review Asucar later to re-evaluate...
