We have visited Da Bruno on many occasions when on holiday in Marbella. We recently returned having recommended the restaurant to my sister who was joining us for a couple of days. Unfortunately, our experience was really poor and we wish we’d gone elsewhere. The night started well - we chose to sit outside and were served by a really lovely waiter (I think his name was Michel). We were served quickly and there was a lovely atmosphere. Our mains came out fairly quickly and they were all delicious - we couldn’t fault the food. After this, it was very clear to see that the restaurant had exceeded capacity. Despite already appearing full, tables were continuously being added onto the outdoor area. This made no sense given it was clear the staff were already rushed off their feet. Our server tried his very best to keep up with the demand but we found ourselves sitting for hours without anyone coming back to check on us - had they done so, we’d have been able to pay our bill and free up a table. I was really shocked and embarrassed when I tried to politely get the attention get the attention of a passing waiter to ask for our bill. He stuck his arm out towards me, as though to indicate he was too busy and for me to leave him alone. I expected him to come back and apologise for doing this but he didn’t, he instead continued to ignore me each time he passed. We were all appalled by his behaviour. It was very obvious to the 3 of us that there was some dispute going on between staff and management - they were shouting at each other and making gestures in front of us. We could see they were stressed but it would have been better to have this discussion in private instead of in view of customers who are there to enjoy a relaxing meal. We have heard that there is new management at Da Bruno. Our last couple of visits have been disappointing - the last tIme I visited, we were also ignored and I had to ask 3 different waiters for the bill before it was finally brought over. It’s a very popular venue and the food and setting is lovely, as are some of the staff, but unfortunately the way it is being run really lets it down. We’d suggest scaling it down a little - removing some of the outdoor seating for a start - and ensure the customers are treated well and attended to, otherwise loyal customers will start going elsewhere. We have been to other busy restaurants and had a great experience so it does appear to be down to how it’s being run. We have decided to eat elsewhere in future - we just didn’t feel valued here which is a real shame as it used to one of our favourite...

So so disappointed, visited last Saturday, with our guests from Canada and the service was an absolute nightmare!!!!! We were offered table right in the front, waited for bread, wine and food for a long long time. It was busy so our waiter was only interested in getting more people to his area rather than serve the people already set at the table. We complained to the maitre de and the waiter Ali was so rude and stated “thank you” in an obnoxious way!!! instead of an apology!!!! We go out to eat for good food, good service and good ambience, we pay for it!!!!! Ali got so annoyed that on our bill he added extra drinks that we didn’t have to to be nasty!!!! He obviously thought that no-one was going to check the bill, as soon as I started checking the bill he snatched the bill out of my hand and gave us some cash back, but hold on, it wasn’t the correct money back!! He was short €2… He turned away and murmured sorry….too late and too little…We travel the world and have never experienced such nasty and rude attitude of a waiter. Our evening was spoiled and we were all upset, such a shame we always had good dining experience in the past…..

Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at Da Bruno Sul Mare and honestly would not recommend it. We ordered a wide variety of dishes hoping to enjoy a proper Italian meal, but nothing really stood out as good. The food was bland and lacked the richness and freshness you would expect from Italian cuisine. Instead of authentic flavours, everything tasted more like mass-produced fast food rather than something prepared with care.
On top of that, the service made the experience even worse. Orders were mixed up several times, dishes we did not ask for came to the table, and what we did order took a long time to arrive. When the food finally came, it was either lukewarm or simply tasteless. The staff did not seem very attentive or organised, and there was no effort to apologise for the mistakes or delays.
The atmosphere was also underwhelming. For a restaurant in such a location, you would expect something lively, warm and inviting, but it felt flat and uninspired. Nothing about the setting made up for the poor food and service.
Overall, Da Bruno Sul Mare felt more like a fast-food chain than an authentic Italian restaurant. For the prices charged and the reputation it tries to carry, the quality and service were far below expectations.
