The first visit at the Grill was on our anniversary. Expectations were quite high to be honest. Reservation is a must in winter months. We went there physically to make the reservation because we wanted to be sure we like the place, we also mentioned that’s it’s our anniversary. I appreciated the valet service a lot because high heels and cobblestone pathways are not a match made in heaven. The reception was very welcoming. The interior of this place is quite cozy, it has an old money vibe. Traditional, classic, elegant and cozy. The crowd is more mature but younger generation can also feel quite comfy here. Just dress to impress lol! Sipping champagne and cherry we admired the open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. It was quite busy but you don’t see anyone heating and running around in sweat. The service personnel left quite an impression. We started off with seared foil gras which was nothing but perfection. Before the starter we got amouse bouche the portion of a starter. I did not have to remind them that I don’t do dairy. My meals were adjusted accordingly. Grilled whole Turbo was my main while my husband had chateau briand. The fish was prepared to perfection. The chateaubriand looked so good that this pescatarian was tempted. After the main course we were surprised that they are not bringing us the dessert menu, instead they bring us 2 glasses of champagne and a beautiful cake from the house to us for our anniversary. What a nice surprise! Overall, the Grill succeeded our expectation. Delicious food, attentive and professional service, beautiful ambience…. Can’t ask for more. We are definitely coming back in one week for my...
Read moreWe have been going to MCG for 20 years as the place is steeped in history and the list of celebs who have visited is endless Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Munro, to name a few. The staff who serve are In traditional white jackets and black trousers a very classy place. However this last visit was very disappointing. We had cocktails on arrival and they were excellent and you sit in a quite small outside garden area with a fire place and an open air bar with two very smart barmen serving drinks a piano player played in the background (Bliss) but once we were taken to the table it all went a bit poor. The menu was very uninspiring but we chose our starters and main course’s and ordered the wine (not cheap) but as expected. The service was average the setting is amazing in a walled garden surrounded by trees with lights and candles festooned between them it’s beautiful. But the food was less than average. I left all my main of Lamb and the waiter cleared within comment. (Very poor for this level of establishment) he was a manager so no excuse. We had to constantly ask for our wine as they held it on a table 20/30 feet from our table no idea why, just lots of annoying little details spoiled an experience evening. And to be honest I decided there and then this was our last visit. A shame but there are too many good restaurants trying a lot harder to warrant taking your money than this place, maybe they are stuck in the 50’s with the food. Worth a visit for a cocktail but I would give the...
Read moreI am leaving a review for the restaurant but it really suits the feeling of the whole hotel. This place feeds into elitist culture and favours the “cash rich”. As a guest at the hotel, certain restrictions were placed on us tonight as we did not wear long trousers, to the point where the manager came to us and said “We have some trousers you can change into”. It just actually made me laugh, thank you for the offer, but I do own trousers. It was 40C today, I am a guest at your hotel and I expect to be able to enjoy a drink with my other half. What made it worse was that other extremely intoxicated men were wearing not just shorts, but swimming trunks and did not seem to be asked to leave despite the manager saying he had asked them. As a guest, looking around the hotel as a whole, I’m truly shocked by what I have seen. The disgustingly rich treating the lovely staff like absolute dirt. The cleaning and pool staff have been absolutely flawless and the one star of this review goes only to them. I can’t even blame the restaurant manager that told us to change tonight, he genuinely spoke to us as if he was acting out of fear. We don’t want to hurt or insult anyone, we just want to enjoy the hotel we have paid to stay at. From your own words, this hotel began in the 50s as a way to enjoy the “barefoot” way of life Marbella has to offer. What a shame the great “Marbella Club” has fallen so far. It is truly...
