SCAM ALERT! If you think that for some weird reason it is OK to visit this place - it is not. You will not pay for the things you have ordered. There were 3 families of us and we tried to find a place to get some dinnerlike food for the kids and for the adults. from outside it seems a place like any other but it is just a tip of the iceberg. Food was pretty terrible, shrimps were overcooked and chewy. Sandwiches were tasted like they were reheated. Only decent meal was Jamon with melon.
Now the tricky part - when we got the bill, it was weird. Only 3 lines with generic entries and same prices to everything. But in the reality and according to menu the prices were different and of course they were higher. When we tried to complain they were stating that the prices were higher because we were sharing the food with our children and we were not ordering full meals to our 4 year old, who could only eat a fragment from it. Second statement was that they suppose to earn their salary somehow as well and refused to discuss furthermore in English because one from our company knew Spanish.
Ridiculous!
After I almost refused payment for my bill and threatened to leave because it was not what I ordered - they started to recalculate with the menu prices and we figured out that the sum total decreased approx. 1/3 from what they have originally requested from us.
There are also no alcohol prizes in the menu because price to local guest is one and the price for tourist is another.
Be very careful if you decide to eat there and doublecheck...
Read moreBeing local to the area I used to be very fond of this little cafe/bar however the last two trips have been horrific. They used to have nice friendly staff always welcoming now a new member of staff every few weeks it seems. This last trip was a monday afternoon, the service was incredibly slow but the cafe was maybe 1/3 full. Waitress disapeard inside most of the time making it impossible to get her attention. We ordered coffee, water, & later 2 beers. A steak & vueltas casera. The food took over 20min and was raw instead of medium, we waited to tell the waitress but she took so long to appear that in the end I picked up the plate and took it back to the kitchen. Explained to staff was supposed to be cooked "medium" came back not even 2 min later still raw in areas and cold. Luckily we were there with the dogs so they were pleased as they eat most of both dishes. After complaining once and waiting so long we just didn't want to invest anymore of our time or energy on this disaster of a lunch out. The bill came & we were charged full price for everything, inc a sauce for the stake that we never had. Such a shame used to be such a lovely spot, they were the only place that offered brown/integral bread, used to be very clean, well kept & welcoming, now you can't even close the toilet door to go to the loo....
Read moreCareful..what you see is NOT what you pay! On our third day staying in the area and we had become accustomed to the restaurant prices being slightly higher than we expected. So we were delighted to find Cafe Luz where the prices seemed great value and the food looked edible. Half a chicken with salad and chips for €7.95 and a pork escalope at €11.50. Not cordon bleu but a good hearty meal and it was good! However, when the bill came it was €3.50 higher than I was expecting. The chicken was inflated by €2 and the escalope by €1.50. Not huge, and the total bill was only €29.15 but she didn't get her tip, when she simply added it to the prices..... I waited to see what happened in our next restaurant just to check that this wasn't some weird Gran Canaria tax. But that bill was exactly as menu prices. So be careful if you look and sound like a tourist- you may get ripped off here! Just take it out of the tip and walk away... and leave a review with photos to...
