Super place for dinner if you’re anywhere in the vicinity! We went there twice in a week. The team are professional and personable and the whole place has a contemporary vibe that oozes with class and quality. If you’re lucky enough to meet the owner, you can find out about how his grandfather carved out the original Pirate Caves in the 1970s! The underground bar part is currently closed (and has been for some years) but the toilets are down there and worth checking - you can see the individual drill markings that make up this labour of love. What stands above the caves is an excellent restaurant, where the meats (and breads) are cooked over coals taken from a large open fire, the dishes are presented in a contemporary but not fussy way and the wine selection is perfect. You also have views over the bay from up here!
This visit, we shared a goat’s cheese salad (full flavoured, vibrant with cheeky sweet accents) and I had the Tenderloin (absolutely charming piece of meat, cooked to a perfect medium rare, all smoky and caramelised with a good oozing cushion of blood…) which came with a cheeky coleslaw and some of the finest Canarian potatoes I’ve had. We had a selection of the traditional red and a vibrant, garlicky green sauces - both gorgeous. The house red was a Ribera del Duero Tempranillo, made with minimal intervention and biodynamic approaches, called AVANOAK It was excellent, we ended up having more...
Read moreWe were driving home, looking for a place to eat. the restaurant looked quite nice from the outside so we pulled over for a spontaneous stop. We were the first customers and lucky to be, because otherwise it wouldn't have been possible to get a table , let alone a table by the window. We were greeted really nicely, and had the free choice to sit wherever we wanted to. The owners speak English fluently and are really really nice people. The restaurant has a really nice view and the food came quickly, the starters were really tasty and can be recommended. My wife was recommended some really good rose wine, which was presented at the table before it was opened and she was allowed to taste it, which is not the standard in all Spanish restaurants. For the main course we had the house special meat platter for two people.it was amazing, excellent and unbelievably good. The toilets are not only clean, they're also something to be discovered, as they are part of a cave. We left very happy after a really nice evening with extremely good food and will return. Oh and great value...
Read moreNumber one place for carnivorous. Best beef in area and The Cheff alone is a show worth to see. Tables near kitchen are nice and it is mesmerizing to follow the cheff working with open fire kitchen. Strongly recommend. Very nice, polite and kind staff.
Front restaurant near kitchen is littlebit noisy (but you have the show) and rear part, away from kitchen is more peaceful. Otherwise, one cant see "kitchen show." Not a cheap place, but service and quality is good. Restauran grill cuevo pirata is place where i am going to visite again.
Hint for restourant owner: do something for echoes. Rear part of the restourant is allso very nice, but littlebit noisy, becouse of echoes. (Roof i think) Add candles for tables. It woud ad some romantic value on your nice restourant. For customer, restourant may be crowded, make a reservation. Easiest entry by walking, go throug tunnel from hotel servatur...
