We had a great afternoon in Murcia and too make sure we had sufficient energy we stopped at Tapeoteca, at this tapas bar in Murcia that’s clearly aiming higher than your average local spot. The vibe is relaxed, but the food is anything but casual — each tapa feels like a mini fine dining dish, carefully plated and full of bold, unexpected flavors.
You can tell the kitchen has serious talent. Everything we tried had a creative twist — things like a smoky reinterpretation of the classic croqueta, or a delicate bite of tuna with citrus and something crunchy we couldn’t quite place, but loved. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself pausing after the first bite just to figure out what’s going on in your mouth. In a good way.
That said, we were left wishing for just a little more explanation. With this level of creativity, it would have made a big difference to have someone walk us through what we were eating. Even just a quick word on ingredients or inspiration behind each dish would have added to the experience — and saved us from guessing what that incredible sauce was made of.
Still, everything we tasted was spot on, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. If you’re into food that’s a bit more experimental but still rooted in Spanish tradition, this place is absolutely worth checking out. A few more words from the kitchen, and it would be...
Read moreWell… I love Murcia, and even more so after my experience/meal here last night.
My friend and I had the pleasure of dining here and the entire experience was exceptional. We sat outside on the terrace, which provided a lovely, relaxed atmosphere—perfect for enjoying a beautiful evening. The food was outstanding, full of flavour, and well presented.
A special thank you to Sabrina, Nuria, and Karen for their excellent service and genuine kindness throughout the night. They were warm, attentive, and made us feel completely at ease.
We spent three hours here, completely relaxed and enjoying every minute. It’s clear that attention to detail is a priority here, both in the kitchen and in the overall service.
Dining out can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal, but this evening was the opposite: calm, welcoming, and memorable in the best way. The terrace setting, excellent food, and outstanding hospitality made it a night to remember. Thanks also for the cocktail bar recommendation. If I could give La Tapeoteca six stars, I would!
I will absolutely be coming back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family. Looking forward...
Read moreWe decided to try this place after being told about the unique fusion tapas style menu. The place was packed during weekend lunch time however the table service was still excellent with the manager (or owner, young chap without apron on) checking on us throughout our time there. After almost every dish served, they made sure to change fresh plates and cutleries as (what we assumed) to ensure the various type of food doesn't affect the taste. My personal favourite had to be the Oxtail Ravioli, rich in flavor and the meat was superbly tender! As the place was fully packed, we were also asked to move our table a little in order to make space for more seating but was later compensated with each a glass of champagne for the due inconvenience. There were total 4 of us, had total 9 beers, 6 types of tapas + 1 dessert and the bill came up to an average 30 euros per person which we felt was very reasonable for such authentic range of menu, service and fulfilling experience. Highly recommended to anyone who loves fusion food or simply great food with...
