Hi. We didn't have a pleasant experience at all. 1st we checked for available tables there were none and looked for a waiter and no one came.. Okay.. Moving on we got in line to get food for takaway and if a spot opened up to sit down. That on one hand the line was where the door was going straight 5 min later the line hadn't moved and 4 more people made a new line. We finally got to order and asked for a table if we should wait or how it worked. The girl at the counter said no english, you finish? We haven't even ordered, how are we finished with our order? Anyway with a lot of pointing we ordered and we didn't even see how much we needed to pay as the number was not displaying anywhere and she said the amount in spanish. Just as we were paying a table opened up and my husband went to get it. We sit down all good finally and starving and a waiter comes and basically starts yelling at us! His eyes looked like they will come out.. We told him we waited for a table for over 20 min and finally got on a line to get our food. He didn't know english we couldn't understand eachother. He explained something like - we can't eat here because we have gotten our food for takeaway and we have to order food to sit down. Okay we ordered orange juice, he brought it and we started eating. Again same story as above he started yelling at us that the table was coffee and pointed at the bakery and said food. I offered him google translate and he said 'understand me' and stormed off. We were starving, we had bad CS and finally we paind the bill for our juice and he was covering above us until we paid. The moment the money was out of my husbands wallet he grabbed it and took off to the cash desk! I am sorry but that is too much! The coffee was not good at all and the croassants weren't that fresh. Picture I am attaching is for "what is not allowed there". I understand we are in another country but atleast try to speak 5 words in english to help your customers understand you or take the phone and type it on Google translate.. PS: When we looked through the comments there were the same complaints from 3 years ago. It seems nothing has changed. Thank you

The food can be good, we went ~12 times at 3 different locations, but 80% at a single location. (Near La malagueta). Coffee is good quality. Location is fine, outside you have a lot of traffic, but you can sit outside and inside. The food is pretty good, but it comes with one single problem. The staff is really lazy. You order cappuccino, it comes standard with chocolate, we had it at least once every visit. And 20% had chocolate, you have to ask to get it. Even asking for it with the initial order: still don't get it at first. Multiply this with every other dish, and it becomes bothersome. One dish comes with chimichurri (simple salsa), one day they just made the sandwich without its signature ingrediënt. Not telling us beforehand, I asked for it and they tell me they don't have it anymore(?), that was the last time we went. We loved the pork campero, but every edition had a different taste, every time, missing some ingredient stated on the menu, cold meat, wrong meat. Etc etc. This could be just this location, at other locations it all went like ordered. But we only went to 2 other locations and fewer times never ordered the same things. It's a shame, the food, on paper, is great but the actual products vary vastly. La canasta needs some quality control. The prices are cheap~ish, so try it out yourself. It's almost fast food, but healthier and better ingredients. Good for a simple lunch, and coffee. postscriptum Don't get a croissant, looks great, tastes meh.

Charming cafe / bakery recommended to us by our tour guide. Pace of service is as usual with Malaga. Don't come here starving. Food: Cappuccino we had was beautiful and excellent. Napolitana pastry is good. Chocolate Croissant is regular Croissants with Nutella. I don't believe that pastries here is any different from other bakeries in town. Sandwiches, Salads and Wines are also available. Service: Service is same as all of Malaga. No rush with ordering, wait and payment. Order pastries to-go for expedited service. Ambiance: Seating available inside and on the streets. Just find your spot and patiently wait for camareros for service. Value: Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service. Hot drinks at 3 Euros, Pastries 1 - 2 Euros. I still recommend La Canasta to try traditional pastries. Having them to-go would be better if you prefer faster service.

My girlfriend and I had an awful experience at this café. We sat at one of the tables inside and were choosing what to order. A waiter (Pepe, who is tall and bald) came over and seemed annoyed when we said that we weren't sure what to have yet. He walked off abruptly and didn't come back to serve us, so we decided to order at the till instead.

I genuinely could not believe what happened next. Just after paying, the waiter, Pepe, began barking at my girlfriend that we shouldn't order at the till (something that we weren't aware of). The way he was shouting was as if we had tried to steal the food or insult his family - he was completely unprofessional, rude and arrogant. He raised his voice the entire time while arguing with us, saying that "disrespected" him. Well, perhaps one should act in a way that deserves any respect at all when dealing with paying customers, who made a simple error. Absolutely mind-blowing how anyone working in customer service could react this way unprovoked.

I asked for a refund because I don't think paying customers should be shouted at for ordering cake... the staff said there wasn't a manager present and that they didn't have any physical complaint forms, which is a legal requirement for them to have. They said we could only make a complaint online.

I do not recommend this...
