Service mediocre - food superb! I’ve been coming to Nerja more than 35 years. Antonio Mesón has always been champions of meat and a high standard in service. I’ve been to the restaurant in 2019 and then again yesterday. Both times the headliner responses to my experience. I won’t comment much on the food as this speaks for it self.
But service needs to be upgraded. Same nice waiters for many years, but they have started to lack focus and spending to much time with obvious gestures showing tiredness. Examples, serving food after 45 min. and in the meantime not provided cutlery, remove bottles/glasses, customer having to ask, why would you continuously respond in bad English if customers actually speak Spanish, customers are always right; don’t start to argue when it’s obvious a steak (your speciality) is rare to the bone, open a wine at the table and concluding yourself it’s bad (cork), just to return with a “new bottle” already opened arguing it’s a new bottle but it still is corked is just not good enough, and overall a body language not leaving a great impression.
I wish the service would match the food...
Read moreWe called in for dinner last night ( really should have booked as it was very busy) and were met with a very warm welcome and advised that it would be around 30 minutes before a table was available and I'm so glad we waited as dinner was superb. Pate for starters which we shared and trust me it's big enough to share. Then for our mains my wife had entrecote steak with pepper sauce and I had the pork version. Both meats cooked to perfection and the sauce was outstanding , all accompanied with vegetables packed with flavour a kind of half boiled/roasted potato which was great and some chips, all deeeeliscious and good sized. For dessert it was a brownie to share and that was more than enough. So outstanding job by the chef and his team. Its also worth mentioning that our waiter was very attentive and looked after us very well so thank you for adding to a memorable evening. Absolutely no hesitation recommending this...
Read moreWe visited this Italian-owned restaurant twice during our visit in Nerja. I tried fish of the day - Seabass, and Chateaubriand. Both dishes were delicious, if I only would judge the meat it self I would give it 5 stars.
What brings down my rating is the side orders to both dishes, you could only choose between strips and boiled potatoes and the strips was not homemade, regular boring "Mcdonalds"-strips. And that is not suitable for a dish like Chateaubriand (or a nice fish).
Anyway, descent prices for such good commodities and they where truly good. We had some REALLY bad meat in Nerja in other restaurants and this was by far the best we had. I could also recommend the Entrecote, my friend had it and it was amazing (I...
