Well, on the basis we do love a Chinese, and we always seek one out when we are on holiday, we set about searching Nerja for one. From the outside, it looked nice a cozy with people eating, so a good sign. On entry it looked a little manic, with stock piled up all over the place, on the bar, in front of the bar, oil under the tables etc, but we thought maybe they are just very busy. The staff were quick to assist, and the menu looked good, so we dived in with a few dishes. We were ordering rice for three people, and we were told after the 2nd order, "No More Rice, you share" !!. So we ordered sizzling beef, tai chicken curry, sweet and sour and some salt and pepper chips.
The food arrived, sone of ot looked ok, but the reality is rhat this was the worst meal that has ever been put in front of me. The beef was clearly cheap meat, couldn't not chew threw it, tasteless, bland and void of any flavour. The Tai curry resembled a plain and simple.chicken in curry sauce, and tasted as it looked. The sweet and sour balls, were just passable, and the salt and pepper chips were just fried potato fries, tasteless, nonslat and pepper flavour. The only flavour was the oil they have been deep fried in.
If you like your Chinese food, then go somewhere else, this place is not for...
Read moreThis restaurant is part of - and owned by the people who run the convenience store next door - Super China Nerja. Avoid the shop at all costs, we ran out of sunscreen, so purchased some Ambre Solaire from here, ( factor 15 ) it smelt different to the stuff we’d been using all week but foolishly thought no one would be awful enough to sell counterfeit sunscreen… Wrong… Luckily we didn’t have any young children with us, and we all had a base tan, as it was useless, - we burned. On closer inspection the label was on an angle and could be peeled off easily also the print smudged far too easily compared to the stuff we brought with us. Went back to the shop, more in hope he would acknowledge the error and take the rest of it off the shelf, he wouldn’t, felt like throttling him, didn’t, however the all the staff from Cafeteria Restaurante Tai came through into the shop to have a good shout that I was wrong and should leave, and then pretend they didn’t understand my point. I’d avoid this place on principle, no matter what the food is like as the owners have no morals whatsoever selling fake sun cream and probably God...
Read moreWe had dinner at Cafetería Restaurante Tai in Nerja and it exceeded expectations. We tried several dishes from Menu A and B, including the Gon Bao Chicken (nicely spicy, but not overwhelming — think patatas bravas level), Fried Beef with Green Pepper (tender, flavorful, and well-portioned), and Thai Curry Chicken. The Sweet and Sour Pork was another hit — tangy, crispy, and satisfying.
Starters like the simple but fresh salad and flavor-packed spring roll set the tone. Don’t overlook the fried bread — crispy outside, fluffy inside, and great for dipping in sauces.
We dined outdoors, just a minute from Torrecilla Beach. The setting was charming with festive lights, plenty of plants, and a cool evening breeze that made it extra enjoyable. The place stayed consistently busy (a good sign!), but it never felt crowded. Even the teenagers in our group loved it.
Highly recommend giving this place a try if you’re in Nerja. Great food, great price, and a lovely atmosphere — we’ll...
