Wasn't initially very impressed when I saw the menu, but the food at China House is very good in the main. I was disappointed with the lack of fish mains, but I had fried seaweed to start and prawns with black mushrooms and bamboo shoots as a main, and both were very tasty. My partner had salt and pepper ribs,which he very much enjoyed, followed by another prawn dish on a sizzling hot plate - a bit pricey and a small portion too. The chips he ordered weren't good. They tasted like frozen and oven baked and weren't very warm. The service was very good and so was the wine. There's definitely a few more things I'd like to try on the menu, although it's a shame my two favourite things, salt and pepper squid and tofu with ginger and spring onion...
