Meson Pata Negra is an old favourite of ours. Indeed, I have eaten here since 1999 when I first visited Nerja. The food I typically Spanish and of the highest quality.
We began with pan and this was served with some aceite de oliva from Jaén, it was very tasty.
Our Amuse was Crema de queso de cabra con mermelada de pimiento rojo, my partner loved this, the cheese was ‘wince inducing’ which is a good thing to his mind. The red pepper was sweet and well salted, a really good way to start a meal.
For starters I had Ensalada de maiz, aguacates y langostinos which was served with a marie rose sauce – a deconstructed Prawn Cocktail as my partner called it. It was fresh and crisp and the langostinos were all perfectly cooked in a buttery sauce – very rich, but you have to treat yourself now and again!!
My partner’s starters were Revuelto de bacalao con cebolla, puerro y patatas paja, the fish was warm and flavoursome, but the eggs kept their flavours too. The patatas paja worked very well as they gave a crunchiness to the flavour.
For mains it was really a choice of who was having which one of the specials. In the end I opted for the Paletilla de cordero lechal and my partner the Pierna de cordero lechal. This baby lamb is just exceptional, perfectly seasonal and perfectly cooked. It was a real delight, by the end there was nothing left on my plate except the bones. A wonderful way of drawing the holiday towards its end.
My partner finished with Tarta de manzana con crema y helado de canela, the tart was crisp and appley, but thankfully not overly sweet. The cinnamon flavour in the ice cream was astoundingly nice. Overall excellent.
We finished with an espresso. A wonderful,...
Read moreOK this may sound really bad the food was so tasty if I was going to be fussy it was slightly oversalted but that is just me I'm not a salt lover so where did it go wrong we booked for our 40th wedding anniversary and I wasn't expecting anything special but I can honestly say it was the worst service we've ever had we were ignored after the point of ordering every other table was looked after from sitting down to leaving even when I eventually got the bill I waited approximately 25 minutes then decided to go inside to pay I did try my best to attract the attention of the waiters but they would look and turn away. Finally I would like to add this is my personal experience and in no way takes away from the...
Read moreso far this has to be the best restaurant we have visited during our stay at nerja. the starter of grilled octopus was really tasty , this was nothing compared to the sphere of goat main course which was amazing the service was good also but a little rushed with the topping up of the wine far to often. the atmosphere was a welcome break to the noise and chaos of the which the tapas bars of nerja has in abundance highly recommend a visit , try and...
