It was a bit of a last minute decision to go into Nerja last night and know at this time of year and especially on a Saturday it would be busy. We had a cocktail in a bar very close to Som Som and I suggested my husband go and ask if there might be a table available later. He was told they were fully booked but to come back later and they may be able to make space. We did just that and to our delight they did have space, inside. We were so pleased and instantly loved the buzz of busy staff looking after a full restaurant inside and out! Our waitress (an English lady from South Wales) was so nice and super friendly, she looked after us very well and agreed with our choice of a sharing menu as this was our first visit and we got to taste a selection of the dishes they do. Well it didn't disappoint, our tastebuds were in heaven! We watched the chefs and kitchen staff produce these fresh, tasty and beautifully presented food while we sat at our table enjoying ours. It was all scrumptious in particular the papaya salad, satay chicken, fish curry and beef massaman. My only disappointment was I had no room for dessert which will have to be enjoyed next time! We truly couldn't fault a thing, even the restrooms were clean and fresh smelling!! Thank goodness we don't live far away, this will be one of our favorites. Thank you all for giving us such a super evening and fitting us in, see you...
Read moreExcellent Thai food. It is no wonder given there were 2 Thai looking women in the kitchen. We walked up to the restaurant on a Friday evening. We got there about 15 minutes before it opened. We popped in to ask if we needed a reservation since we didn't have one. The lady said yes but was accommodating and made us a quick reservation right on the spot. She said all their outside tables were booked but we were happy with an inside one.
Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. They provided free of charge rice chips and a chili dipping sauce which were good. We ordered the papaya salad with red chilis because we like spicy. It was a good spicy, not too hot at all. We also ordered the the calamari curry and the tofu curry. The sauce on the curries reminded us of lemon grass coconut milk soup which we've had before and loved it. They also offered us free of charge an after dinner drink, sort of a palate cleanser. All was delicious. Price was extremely reasonable.
We also noticed there was a lady sitting at the bar who we decided must have been the owner who was overseeing everything and making sure everything was done properly. Don't know if she is there every night but we did see her send a delivery order back for correction. She is on...
Read moreAmazing Thai Red curry, beautiful interior, no veg options, not child friendly, service depends!. Can say, a 5* Curry with 1* attitude of the owner. In contrast the waiter from Granada is extremely professional. We have been eating at Som Som regularly for a year, their food and ambience has been consistently good if not improved. Unfortunately the attitude of the owner has been consistently dry but recently got worse. Therefore the overall experience is 2* max. For example once they served bitter cucumbers for a child, that's the only thing she ate, to replace the 3 slices of cucumber he charged €3.50 euro. Another time he had some issues with his bathroom plumbing, and on the way out when we were leaving happy thinking best Thai curries we have had in while, leaving a decent tip on top of €20 euro per head for one course and drink, he said "I am not happy that my toilet is blocked" a toilet that we had not visited! I wouldn't tell my customers even if they had visited. If stuck, then visit expect a little high priced compared to local restaurants, decent curries and an always, wiping the tables upset owner. The other Thai options locally have amazing attitudes in comparison. For us overall experience is ruined if the service is...
