Restaurante Maritaos Kitchen II — Restaurant in Orihuela

I have used and praised this restaurant since it originally opened in this location as the quality of its food etc has always been excellent. I am sad to say that it has slipped badly since the departure of its Manager ,George, some time back . Under its present regime and head waiter it's standards have dropped significantly not least on the service front. On my most recent visit, my son had great difficulty in ordering orange rather plum sauce with his duck, I was served with a dish I had not ordered, I had to go looking for a waiter to procure a menu for a second course and the manner in which it was given compelled me to ask if it was not too much trouble to bother him . I would add the restaurant was virtually deserted at the time as regards customers so the poor service could not be attributed to volume of business. On leaving when asked if everything had been ok I expressed my feelings regarding service etc for which I would have expected some form of apology from the head waiter but this did not happen. Being lucky enough to live within walking distance to La fuente cc, blue lagoon, and el galan we have an abundance of bars and restaurants, we also drive out to other restaurants in and around the area, but in my honest opinion the best restaurant around is by far, Maritaos Kitchen. The food is consistently excellent, the staff are really friendly and helpful, it’s great value for money, it’s without doubt a place to definitely try. Today we had an early afternoon New Year’s Eve meal, wow, it was just brilliant, everything was piping hot, service with a smile and enough to take food home, I cannot praise this restaurant enough. First time trying this restaurant out. Great location and plenty of parking nearby and outside. Plenty of passing traffic outside as next to Royal Oak. Wide variety of dishes on the menu and plenty of pictures to help you choose. Shredded duck to start was OK and sweet and sour Cantonese chicken was bit rubbery. Same chicken was in the salt and pepper chicken literally with no sauce on it. Sweet and sour sauce was nice. 4 different meals for kids but sausages are small frankfurters. Tasted OK apparently.
