Iâd give a solid 4.5 out of 5 to Lima, a colourful Peruvian restaurant located on a quite street in Can Pastilla. We reserved in advance as we came from a city half an hour away. We both got some scallop with leche de Tigre and Ceviche de Corvina and loved it. Our appetizer looked so fancy and really nicely put together. We were pleased to see a lot of care with all the fine chopped veggies and the nice presentation. The fish in the chevice was cut in quite big cubes, which we loved as we could really taste its freshness. I loved everything (some dried banana chips would have been the cherry on top) but I would have also preferred slightly less acidity. I read in previous reviews that the acidity issue came up - thatâs why I didnât order any cocktail (I would have gone for passion fruit) - because it would have been al too hard on my stomach. Luckily I didnât because I had to take some breaks from the acidity and spices. Still, the taste was amazing - I was just not used to this acidity. We loved how we received a proper portion which let us more than full (in many restaurants for the same price we payed here we would have gotten an appetizer with half the size of product). The staff was super friendly and the chefs working in the open kitchen were fully coordinated and silent (this is a good sign). We sadly didnât have any room left for deserts, but would have tried them as they were local ones (such as tres leches). Definitely recommended for chevice and Peruvian cousine in an...
Read moreIâve visited this restaurant several times with my wife. The food has usually been good, but the service has always felt a bit cold. This time we decided to give it another chance, and honestly, it was the last.
We showed up at 7:57pm. At the entrance, a young woman was staring at the reservation book. My wife greeted her with a friendly âhola,â and the only reply we got was a blunt â5 minutes.â No hello, no explanation. The tone was so unfriendly that we turned around and walked out. She then came after us to explain the place opens at 8:00pm, and even added that if we didnât like her answer, that was our problem. I told her calmly: âIn my opinion, you donât understand what service means.â
For me, itâs simple: if youâre the first point of contact, you set the tone. A smile and a warm welcome cost nothing. Something like: âWelcome, please take a seat, I can get you a drink while the kitchen opens in a few minutesâ would have been the right way.
The food used to make up for the lack of service, but not anymore. With this kind of treatment, thereâs no reason...
Read moreThe restaurant was highly recommended to me by a Peruvian friend. We went for lunch. I had changed my original reservation from the terrace to indoors because my allergies had flared up. On arrival, we were told we were outside on the terrace...luckily, my allergies did not trouble me. The pisco sours and maracuyĂĄ sours looked lovely. My pisco sour was nice but a little watery. The conchitas a la parmesana could have done without the bĂ©chamel sauce (opinion shared by the other Peruvian at the table). The yucas fritas were lovely but the huancaĂna sauce lacked womph! The jalea was nicely fried but not as tasty as it should be. The sauce Ok. The ceviche clĂĄsico was delicious (I had requested it "picante" but it was not) the lomo saltado and the anticuchos were excellent. All in all, it was a good experience, but we felt they had compromised on the authenticity of the Peruvian taste to please the...
