Unfortunately I don’t share the same experience as the rest of you. The place looked nice and had great reviews so perfect for a hungry family. But our experience was far from good. First they placed us in a corner close to the kitchen which had maintenance with open doors and the bar with loud coffee machine so we just had to move to another table. Ordering went well but after 45min wait I suspected something was wrong because no food came out of the kitchen. No info from the staff and maintenance people running around. After waiting for over an hour for our pasta we were about to leave the place. Eventually the food arrived, it looked ok but the creamyness that I expect from a carbonara was not there instead it looked that it had been prepared in a haste and the pasta water was not incorporated in the dish instead it was in the bottom of the plate. The tagliatelle bolognese was ok but served cold and since all of our pasta was served very al dente it was hard to eat. My pasta with sea bass and artichoke was ok but nothing special and found bones from the fish. We only finished 1 out of 5 dishes and family wanted to leave as soon as possible. No apologies from the staff of the poor service and food. I thought they would offer us discount after such experience but I guess they understood that we will never come back anyway. We are not picky and we ordered simple dishes and this Osteria did...
Read moreWhile traveling alone for a couple days in Palma, I stumbled upon this place and, enamored by its view of the basílico de Sant Frances, decided to accept the waiter’s invitation to join him there for dinner (!). After escorting me to my seat (literally, he gave me his arm), the 3-person team took turns catering quickly to my every desire - even indulging my ho-hum and very rusty spanish. After a negroni (served with one big ice cube), and while totally engrossed in Elena Ferrante’s newest novel, I enjoyed a perfect house salad with a big lob of what could only be fig and balsamic glazed, rindy goat cheese in the center, and one of the day’s specials - gambas de ají. The waiter suggested I would be happy with a glass of vermentino to accompany them, and he was spot on. So glad I accepted the invite! Definitely worth putting in your dinner plans (although a reservation is recommended if you want to sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the view of the church!). Hopefully someday, this little joint will be fronted by a proper public square or something else St Francis would approve of, rather than a...
Read moreClean and nice restaurant, very good food, two lovely ladies attending the tables, but also a very disagreeable waiter who should be fired today. While we were waiting for our bill, I could see this man going to a side table where different type of breads were stored to be cut and served to the customers. He grabbed one piece of bread, chewing it on the way to the kitchen. While still processing why he did that, when he could probably get as much bread as he wanted from the kitchen, I was shocked to see him doing something really gross. While going out of the kitchen with a prepared dish for a customer who was sitting at a table, he stopped in a less visible corner of the room, took some of the food from that customer’s plate and put it on an empty plate that was placed on a shelf. After he served that customer, he had turned back to the shelf and ate the ingredients he picked from that customer’s plate... That was disgusting. I am sure he does it on a regular basis and God knows what else he does with the customers’ food. Too bad one person can ruin the work of an...
