La Scalinata — Restaurant in Pollença

The restaurant is in a lovely position at the foot of the steps in the old town. I'm afraid the food and service was not really up to scratch. We ordered drinks and they arrived fairly quickly but we waited a long time to order food as there was only one waitress taking food orders despite there being about 10 waiters/waitresses working. My wife ordered the cheese salad which was very nice and I ordered the 3 tapas. When it arrived the 3 tapas dishes were quite small and one was wrong so they took it back. After about 10 minutes, they brought the 3 tapas dishes back, clearly they had just been left on the side as the 2 original dishes had gone cool. However, when I tasted the 3rd (fresh) dish, it was fridge cold! (Lamb offal!) They took it back a second time to heat it up and then it was all hot again. It just concerned me how they could send lamb offal out cold... no offer of any money off despite my wife practically finishing her salad before my main finally arrived correctly. Not a great experience unfortunately. The 3 tapas were €18.50 so I expected better... another guy near me had his order brought out which was wrong and they took 25 minutes to bring it back...

A special occasion ruined by coming to this’ restaurant’. Terrible, over priced food. The pizzas are clearly from the freezer and are awful (and extortionately priced). My son ordered the Mallorcan burger which he didn’t receive. He was brought a different one which he didn’t want so we cancelled the burger only to be brought the one he ordered after we finished the ‘pizza’. This too was awful & massively over priced. No discount was given for the error. The fresh orange juice is totally over priced too. Oh & the fries were clearly not freshly cooked! All in all an expensive disaster. There were lots of servers which made it hard to complain so beware! I wish I had refused to pay but my husband and son are too polite! Definitely not a place we’ll ever go back to. I wish I’d read the reviews beforehand 🫣🤦🏼‍♀️😵‍💫 Feel absolutely robbed 😡

Thanks for your reply. I have a pizza oven myself so I know what a homemade pizza looks like! I’d really prefer to have my money back - I can’t believe you serve that food at those prices. I’m happy to send my bank details (privately)...

La Scalinata is the best affordable restaurant in Polença. After visiting a different one we realised that most other inexpensive dining places value money over the quality of food due to the touristic popularity - La Scalinata, however, finds customer service important.

We stumbled upon La Scalinata and were instantly greeted with an amazing team of caring and talented people. Having a big group, it is difficult to find room for 6 around a single table; the waitresses took care of that quickly and with a smile. We ordered and received perfectly cooked, delicious meals. All portions were a great size and quality, we went there 7 times and were incredibly happy every night.

Thank you to the staff for the lovely service, especially Lydia and Augustina. I would highly recommended this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for affordable...
