La Catrina — Restaurant in Pontevedra

Not the greatest experience. I was told I can't sit in, so I ordered to take away and sat to wait outside. Then 5 students who looked like they just stumbled upon the place randomly stood outside for 5mins to browse the menu came in and were welcomed to sit in. When I was ordering I asked for a side portion of guacamole I was told they don't do sides and so they charged me €7 for what they said would be a big generous portion (but was what I would definitely consider a side portion). And then they got my order confused - good that I checked it as I was leaving. On my return 20 secs later, I was invited to sit it this time. The guacamole was soggy and the enchiladas - well I've never seen them made this way -looked like a soup- but that may just be me and my ignorance about "Authentic Mexican food". The bar person was behaving kindly and kept smiling the whole time... His English was okay and I felt like we understood each other most of the time. The place looks clean and tidy and well styled, but this whole thing with the sitting down and the order... It just...

Siempre que vamos un mexicano lo disfrutamos pero es como un mini chasco, es como que en Europa no está tan rico. Eso cambió hoy, que la casualidad nos hizo probar aquí. Sinceramente queríamos ir a otro que está bueno y que tiene muy buena fama, pero no había sitio. Como todo en esta vida pasa por una razón, aquí si que había. No hay comparación. Hay varios en Pontevedra centro y en su cercanía que si, están buenos y te quitan el antojo....pero este sabe a América. La salsa picante es deliciosa y si, pica. Al sentarte te ponen unos nachos con cuatro salsas en orden de intensidad: cebolla (suave), verde (pica moderadamente, muy rica), roja suave y roja fuerte. La fuerte es México puro, pica. Es lo que siempre echo en falta en todos. El camarero, que fue muy agradable, nos comentó que tenían otra "muy picante", que sólo la pone si se la piden. Uff...todo un reto. Está rica y cuidado, pica una barbaridad. Pedimos tacos de cochinita (muy ricos), enchiladas (deliciosas) y guacamole (muy rico). De postre un tamal dulce que era espectacular, no me imaginaba ese sabor leyendo la carta...café, té...y chupito de tequila dulce (riquísimo) Pagar, pagamos poquísimo porque tomamos varias cervezas de importación y no nos cortamos en pedir cosas. Good Mexican restaurant. We really enjoyed having familiar lunch here. The food was really tasteful, the price was fair and the staff was warm and friendly.
