Tasca El Arado — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

We were here two months ago. The restaurant is located in the center of the old town of Puerto de la Cruz. Here you can try the local cuisine of Tenerife. We tried a couple of items such as fried sardines, garbanzas. Also, for an appetizer, we tried fried mushrooms and cheese fries, which are served with jam. The fish was very tasty, but those garbanzas were nothing special. In general, the feeling is kind of unclear, as if you are both in a pub and in a restaurant, because the prices are a little higher than in a pub, probably because it is the center of the city. I would say an ordinary place, you can eat, but since the choice of restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz is large, we probably won't come back here again. The service was fast, but the waiter's small talk was too much. It was somehow too much and probably we didn't really want to have any conversations, we just...

The waiter explained they had only been in business a few months.

We had the tapas "tasting menu" with amazing cheese that looked like an orange paste mixed with peppers. I could have eaten that on everything! At the end was some goat meat that was freaking delicious.

The waiter was super attentive (which is not common in Spain, especially in Madrid at least). He asked if we knew what we were ordering......then explained the details because we had no idea, which was nice.

Skip the "pudding" desert, wasn't a strong point....eat more of their hot food instead.

First decent place we found...

Had very bad experience in this restaurant both in terms of food and the service. I ordered lemonade and paella. The lemonade was sprite which at taste was very old because there were no sparkles and inside there were white clots. Paella was awful and was made of also very old and rotten products, too salty and in general was impossible to eat. When I tried to speak with the waiter about it, he treated me with disrespect and told me that it’s my taste is wrong because their paella is the best and refused to compensate the dish or replace it with something else. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, sorry but it was very impolite, not tasty and very bad...
