This place is the best restaurant in town. As a humble food fanatic who has tried most places in Puerto De la Cruz, I will always come back here over and over again.
On first arrival you notice the cavernous stone interior and an overall feeling of calmness. Then, you’re greeted by the lovely Melisa (who it turns out is one half of the brains behind the operation) who takes you to your table. It’s from that moment you are in for a meal to remember.
The food at Tasca Ihuey is sublime. I have eaten about 95% of the menu at this point and I’m always happy to repeat an old classic or try one of their titillating off menu options. From the lightest croquetas to the dreamy foie gras cannelloni to the heavenly desserts, eating here can be a meditative experience so don’t be surprised if you and your dinner party eat in silence. They cook their food to perfection. Even during the busiest rushes, there is no change in quality or flavour. Their meats (which include duck, pork, steak) and fish are always breathtakingly tender but wonderfully seared. However, for me, the part that stands them out from the rest is that they are experts in balancing natural flavours with seasoning. The food is not bland and the chefs aren’t afraid to go the extra mile to make the flavours sing.
Let yourself enjoy the beautiful work of Melisa and Claudio. As well as being on top of the food game, they also have impeccable wine knowledge. They try to serve a variety of wines and can guide you in your choices. Finally, the desserts are really special. They’re a palatable size so it’s always worth getting one even if you’ve indulged. A delicious, lasting memory to a languorous meal.
The bottom line is that guys are really worth visiting. I highly recommend you reserve a table with them which couldn’t be easier to do as they have online booking unlike many local places.
Cheers to the...
Read moreIf you visit Tenerife and especially if you visit Puerto de la Cruz you need to visit here! Had such a great experience from start to end. The food was exquisite and made with so much love and attention to detail.
If I go out to eat somewhere like this it's because I want something special that I could not reproduce at home and this certainly ticked that box. Every bite was packed with just the right amount of flavour and I quite often had to stop to appreciate the experience of what I was tasting. I mean there was an onion stuffed with mushroom! Like no one needed to make this, I was only told I was getting roasted veg but the flavours were delightful and paired beautifully with the beef tenderloin! From, the starter to the dessert everything was just well thought out and planned (even the freshly made bread and butter and presentation of cutlery and flowers on the tables just had that extra bit of thought behind it!) but not in a pretentious "fine dining" way either; just in a "we want to make you feel welcome and give you delightful food" type way. And the portions where a perfect size as well, not too big that you feel stuffed but just big enough to leave you satisfied and want a next course!
The server was lovely as well; she made a lot of effort to explain the menu and answer questions and make me feel welcome as I noticed her do for everyone else who entered as well. And the decour of the restaurant was simple and homely, warm and inviting! Would...
Read moreWonderful meal and lovely service. We went as a couple on a Tuesday evening, arriving at 7:30 (open 6:30-10:30) and although not busy yet there were reserved tables so I would advise booking if you plan on arriving later. We ordered a glass of house white (€3.50) and a Cruzcampo bottle of beer (€2.50) which were both great. They bring a small aperitif to share of Sweet-blood sausage croquettes which is amazing (and free!). We ordered the tomatoes with parmesan sauce and I was slightly sceptical about how tomatoes could be worth €8.50 but we have never eaten such delicious tomatoes before, they were delightful. We had the duck breast and steak for mains and these too were amazing, even the bread basket they bring is freshly made! You get such good value for money with both of these dishes and they're perfectly cooked! For dessert we shared the chocolate ganache and it was also, of course, delicious! Would definitely recommend to couples/groups who are looking for a great quality meal! Would probably not recommend to families with kids as there's no kids menu/it's all very full...
